    bit of advice

    hello all

im just about to purchase a compressor, my budjet is just under 100 quid and im using a aztek A430 series airbrush. i have used the brush before and i like how easy it is to use but i had a compressor with no tank and it was noisey as hell!!! so advice on which ones of the below will suit my needs obviously quiet as possible needed! any views or recomendations welcome.

these are what i have come up with:

this seems like a great price but is it usual egay tat or unsuitable? it also comes with a water trap and pressure regulator

Spraymaster Premium Silent Airbrush Compressor on eBay, also Airbrushes, Painting Supplies, Painting, Drawing Art, Crafts (end time 28-Dec-08 18:19:50 GMT)

this one seems to crop up alot, top item on that page.

    RDG Tools ltd Airbrush Compressors

are either of these suitable? is the bottom one better for an extra 30 quid?

Unfortunately you are a bit stuck with your budget and can only really look at an airbrush only compressor. Mine recently cost 250.00 pounds but is a 9l capacity tank so can be used for pumping up tyres and running steam engines etc.. As with most things you get what you pay for but the first one is supposed to be quiet. It gets around the requirement for a reservoir by stopping and starting on demand, which is a cheap way of doing it, and will only be as good as the quality of the switch that operates it and hence whether there is any delay in starting and pressure build up when you operate the trigger. You will have to start your pass off the item to prevent spitting as the presure builds up. Low power but plenty for an airbrush.

The second one is definately a better bet as it has a reservoir so pressure is available on demand at the press of the trigger and probably about as quiet as the first one. This one shouldn't overheat either anyway as the pressure switch on the tank will cut out the compressor when you are not using it and it is up to pressure. Once again low power but should be plenty for an airbrush.

I would go for the second one as I think you will be frustrated with the first one.

thanks for the reply i will order it from them, i have just been reading your back to basics thread so i feel i can trust your advice and i will go for the second option, it makes a very good read btw.

do you know what fittings i will have to use for the aztek, its been a while since i used it and im not sure the fitting on the noisey compressor i have will be the same?
