i`m looking as to the reason why tugs have "garth " in their name ' date=' anyone wanna share the reason ? or is it a secret [/quote']Okay guys, he's what I can come up with at the moment from the vast selection of books at hand.
I believe that the company Rea Towing Co Ltd operated on the Mersey and represented William Cory & Son Ltd. All their tugs had names ending in Garth, ie in 1969 they had one named Brackengarth. No nearer to giving definitive answer, but at least we got an owner somewhere along the line.
