What is your favorite model to buy

    Hi all

I am new here so please forgive me if I step on someones toes. I have always loved airfix sci-fi models and warplanes but know that it is not everybodies thing in modeling, anyway I am to invest in a new business venture and wish to ask you guys what your top 5 preference for models are. A little research search from the target customers if you like and also what you like to able to see when looking to purchase model kits etc. I ask as I am to put a lot of money into this and want to it right so any thoughts would be very gratfully recieved.

    Kind Regards

    Gary

    1. DRAGON/DML

    2. Tamiya

    3. MPM

    4. Hasegawa

    5. Airfix

Classic Airframes, Fine molds and MPM are killer but considered by many as Boutique and thus very expensive being aimed at the more advanced modeler. I love Airfix too but would put them way ahead of Revell of Germany or USA cause they don't rebox old kits that can be perceived as new molds. Hope this helps, Jeff

Well if you want THE most modeled subject in all of human history, its got to be the BF109 fighter! Anything from WW2 is a must. I've seen more 1/35 armor lately too.

          Hi there

In my opinion, in terms of aircraft kits, there is great choice out there of course, but there is too much emphasis on German WWII, and to a lesser extent U.S WWII planes. I would like to see more British, French etc and especially Russian stuff from that period. E.g how many kits of Fw 190s Me 109s P-51s etc are there in 1/72? Loads! But why is the excellent Hasegawa 1/72 Beaufighter so hard to get hold of? In fact, I think it,s been discontinued...

There are still big gaps in the aviation market, even though new kits are coming out left right and centre these days, so it,s a case of research what the popular planes are, then see if there is or isn,t a decent quality kit out there.

Also, in terms of armour, is it me or does there seem a HUGE bias towards German WWII stuff? Maybe thats just me...

          Good luck with it anyway!

          Saul

this is the sort of thing I am looking for as i will try and source any item you guys are looking for. i have some good contacts with the trade wholesalers. so will look into finding the russian aircraft you seek. the first part of the plan was to find the manafactures that modellers like which appears to be airfix ,tamyia, revell and dragon seem to be the best quailty so that is our starting point. The next stage is a product list of models which we will carry in stock for next day dispatch approx 200 lines with a good stock holding and a request book where we will track down any model required and a range of paints and glues etc. Where I stumble on is the product holding hence why we are asking which models are popular and what the main gaps are.
