Beginner's airbrush

Hi,

I'm new to the forum so firstly, hello! I used to do a lot of modelling when I was a kid but have only just got back into it (much to the amusement of the wife!) Anyways I really want to buy myself an airbrush but I haven't got a clue which one to choose. There are loads on places like eBay but I don't know what to go for. Would rather keep the price below £50 as I'm haemorrhaging cash at the mintue with going to Glastonbury at the end of the month and booking a holiday. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and sorry if this isn't the right place for this thread.

Hi cavie i have not long started using an air brush to do my kits, i started with a single action brush from badger but have recently been using a gravity feed duel action airbrush and mini compressor i bought them from a company online called airbrush everything. The brush cost me £20.00 as i bought it from their e-bay sight but i also got the mini compressor hose and fittings for £55.00 a bargin. If you buy this gear in a model shop or online sight it would cost you upwards of £200.00.Hope this helps

Try a company called Badger and model 350, excellent quality, only single action, but loads of accessories available and for only £49.00

Also new to this site, so again, to everyone hello!

Re: the airbrush question. Personally I would always recommend going for a dual action airbrush . Even if you're not too skilled with an airbrush I feel you will always regret not going for the better option as skills improve. I have 3 Iwata airbrushes (excessive I know!) and i've found them all to be sturdy and reliable. If you are interested I am selling one of them: Iwata Eclipse HP-SBS. It has a brand new needle and 2 sizes of side cups -£40. The only reason I'm selling it is because I have 2 others!!!

I hope I'm using this forum correctly and I hope you didn't post the original question 10 years ago!!!

The other thing to bear in mind is the air supply. It's my belief that you will need a compressor. I've tried the cans of compressed air in the past and they are both variable in pressure and they don't last 5 mins!

I hope the above advise has been of use, and choose which way you want to go I hope you have a lot of fun with your new airbrush.

The Revell standard class airbrush is a great beginner's set.

It is very robust and easy to use for beginner's like your self.

It's £35, so not a bad price.

HI caviethe air brushes i use are duel action brushes they are the AB 130 series airbrush the whole kit including hose and connectors costs £50.00 i also bought a n AB- ASO6 Diaphragm compressor costing £53.00, for this kind of kit in model shops it will cost upwards of £200. The products are from an online company called Airbrush everything.
