    Where are the exhibitions?

Now I have rekindled my modelling interest after ****** years, I would like to go to an exhibition / competition to have a look at other modellers efforts in the flesh, so to speak.

I am not particularly interested in the hard core side (paint the finger nails wrong and you get shot!) more the average joe's models made by people who wander around these do's with a pie and a pint.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, bearing in mind I have never been to such a do, nor have I read any mags on the subject. ( what a saddo.)

Within a reasonable distance of Chester if poss.

    Thanks,

    Ron

As an add on to my thread, I hope I havn't touched a nerve with the content because I have nothing but admiration for the skill and dedication people put into their models when aiming for perfection, it's just that it's

    not my bag.

hi ron, i dont go to many ,not that many are near to sheffield, but i always go to the expo at southwell racecourse near newark, notts,on the 11th oct this year. Its organised by the lincoln +newark ipms ,and its a small friendly show with comps, traders etc plus of course clubs displaying their stuff.the only one i know of for armour modellers like yourself is the south cheshire militaire show in crewe.i think its held in february ,try googling south cheshire militaire im sure the website will have all the details. like yourself im not a member of any club but i just like to go and have a look at other peoples efforts, plus these shows are a great place to pick up a bargain kit, always look under the tables and in the bargain bins-ive had some corkers for a pound!!! hope this is of some use cheers tony

        hi.

read the model mags in smiths , most have a list of shows. try the internet, ipms website, ect .

make plans to go to the ipms national show at telford. if that doesnt, either ,inspire you or make you give up ,nothing will.

find a model club near you ,again ,ipms website has info.

try the model sites on the web. a word of caution here ,ignore the rhetorical rubbish that sometimes goes on within these sites . there are lots of pictures of models of all types.

        best wishes.

          Hi Spanner,

i'm going to Euro Militaire this weekend in Folkestone with a model for entry in the comp there. Hope there's no shooting for wrong coloured whatevers. Got shot at once before wasn't too keen on it to be honest lol.

Have a look at this flyer... http://www.ipms-uk.co.uk/pdf/IPMSsmw2009v1web1.pdf

It's about the nearest (and largest) competition and exhibition on show to us (also live nr Chester), so I'm very tempted to go...
