    What do you build?

    Hi folks,

I've been reading the recent posts from the 'specialist' armour guys and the 'specialist' plane guys with some interest (and a good sprinkling of amusement!) and had an idea.

We've all heard of the 'specialist' with 100 versions of the Me 109 (F15, Tiger, Mitsubishi Evo), or the one with 100 WWI biplanes (Australian Warships, Fire Engines) and the one with exclusively 1/72 Aircraft (1/35 Armour, 1/700 Ships, 1/24 Trucks) in their stash.

I thought it might be interesting to see who keeps a wide range of different types of kit in their stash. I'm not asking for exhaustive lists (we could be here for an awfully long time!) just a representative sample of a dozen to illustrate the range of kits.

    My list would be:

    1/48 B1 Lancer

    1/39 Wright Flyer

    1/35 Chinook

    1/72 Gato

    1/100 HMS Victory

    1/9 Kettenkrad

    1/35 Morser Karl

    1/24 Neoplan Cityliner

    1/200 Oil Rig

    1/110 Jupiter C & Launch Tower

1/6 Star Wars STAP & Battle Droid

    Millennium Falcon

That's a fairly wide range of subjects, but I'll bet there are folks out there that can do much better than that!

    Gern

PS I've just had a thought. All my kits are plastic 'cos that's my 'speciality'. I should have included those who have a range of different media such as resin, vac form or card etc.

    Well Gern,

I buid at the other end of the scale or rather the middle as some buil 1/4 scale. I like to stick around 1/8 because of transporting. I do love the war birds and building scale ones is great... loads of detail. You can see that i have completed the P47 and have now started the B25, these are in the under construction section. I have also build a ARF Piper Cub, you can see this there too.

I am new to the hobby and these are my first attempts but i intend to go on if i can sell some of them to make room for others.

My list of intended projects would be:

    B52

    Makki 202

    Hurricane

    Tiger Moth

Others as they catch my eye. I have a Cesnor to build ARF when i have learnt to fly the Cub, The Cub will go for sale as soon as i am stable enough and have advanced to landings and take offs.

    Cheers

    Andy

I'm a plastic guy and WW2 aircraft are my thing. I don't keep a huge stash, usually no more than three or four kits. At the moment:

      Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster

      Revell 1/32 Ju88

Hasegawa 1/32 Bf109G-6 (to be converted to a tropical version.)

Monogram 1/48 "Eastern Airlines" DC-3 (given to me recently. I haven't had the courage to have a proper look as I remember some of those old Monogram efforts being a little "challenging".)

Next up, work permitting, the 109.

I enjoy seeing other peoples (different) models here. It's good to see some of the fantastic results people achieve. A model maybe no less inspirational just because it is not of my preferred subject, or in my medium. I'd never seen a card model before I visited this site!

      Cheers

I'm plastic too, i build what ever i get my hand on lol, but i go through stages and at the moment it's armour.

          In my stash,

          Cursader MkI/II 1/48 scale

          Two Linx helicopters 1/72 " "

          1973 GMC Van 1/16 " "

          USS Enterprise (Star Trek) 1/350 " "

          Deep Space Nine BIG

But next on the list is a dio, 1/72 scale Panzer and Bf109E, after the Cursader is finished. Should be fun.

I'm on the big end of the scale - radio controlled that is, so this is my list of projects ongoing and finishing off

Bell 222UT Helicopter....got most of the stuff in place now to do this one, bought some tube benders yesterday to do the scale skids.

Hughes 500E Helicopter (.60 size) will also be doing proper scale job on this one.

1/8th Scale DH-2 Beaver, I have the fuselage built and am now sorting out the rest of it (This one means a lot to me as my Dad flew this plane)

Pilot ACE 20L - (Modified so nothing like the original kit version) virtually completed now so I have an aerobatic plane to throw about.

As you can guess I am back into the flying side of the hobby but I still have 3 cars, 3 boats, a Hovercraft and My Panzer V AUSF-G to take care of, they are all R/C too !!

I do have a stack of plastic kits in my shed which I am determined to finish too, some I have started, some I haven't. 2 of them are very nice 1/32 scale matchbox kits. (Lysander and Puma)

            Regards........Mark

Now a 1/4 scale B-52 would be something to see! You could hardly miss it.

If 1/4 scale is 1/48, I make it about 1175 mm. I could live with that.

                        • hi gern, im mainly a plane type although recently ive been tempted to cross to the dark side slightly (armour!) heres a snapshot of a small section of my unbuilt stash .I usually lean towards russian stuff but ill build anything if it tickles my fancy ,whatever the scale or subject.Like john (centurion 3RTR) i go through fads ,at the moment im really into looking at armour kits on e-bay and 1930's racing planes (hence the caudron 460). so heres the list 1. 1/32 revell westland lysander 2.1/72 tupolev tu22 blinder italeri 3.1/96 glencoe vickers viscount 4.1/32 revell mig 21 5.1/32 williams bros caudron 460 racer 6.1/48 accurate miniatures yak1 7.1/48 airfix E E lightning f2/6 8.1/48 revell ef 2000 typhoon 9.1/72 eduard lavochkin la7 10.1/72 hasegawa t34 mentor 11. 1/144 revell harrier gr7 12. 1/72 hasegawa kubelwagen with bmw +sidecar theres about 25 more in the stash plus 3 on the bench at the moment(halftrack, fouga magister, handley page herald) i know its not very varied, being mostly planes, but its not a bad mix of scales and subjects . cheers tony

Hi Gern i build i:35 scale ww11 armour, i mainly prefer german armour but usually anything from ww11 everything i've done is posted on the forum or in my gallery pages feel free to have a look if you want. I must admit i prefer 1:35 scale as the completed kits are a good size and it is not too difficult to paint.
