Right here goes

Im building a nitro racer "DeAGOSTINI" and am a total beginer :hmmm:

The question is how much should i be paying for a radio transmitter i have seen some for £20 and some for £100's i know there is a big diff in them but what??? and whats a good starting price for a controller for the above model.

well if your a beginner a am radio set would do you you can pick one up for about 50 bucks

Make sure that you get all of the magazine parts before you invest in any gear. That firm are great for starting projects and not finishing them plus the cost will be a lot more than if you went out and bought yourself a kit fom the model shop

If the worst came to the worst would i be able to go to a local model shop and buy the parts its already cost me a lot but makes it a bit easier when its only a few ££ a week. Plus as a total beginner i thought getting it like this would be easier, get to know whats what.

I`m also building this car.Parts are cheap and easy to come by.For example the clutch which came over 3 or 4 issues cost me £7.99 off ebay.

In fact I am building 2,and I have sourced loads of extras cheaply.It is an expensive way to buy a car,but £6 a week is easier to find than a couple of hundred.

As for your initial question,you can get a 2 channel 27mhz set for around £40.

Ok but what do i look for are all parts interchangeable in 1/10 or will i need to find out which mine is ??

The car you are building is a Kyosho pureten alpha GP.The parts are specific to this make/model.Some general parts like wheels,tyres are the same for all 1/10th cars.

You can get a manual and parts list as a pdf download,I`ll see if I can find the link.

Just for info, the car is indeed a Pureten Alpha GP2 and there is a full downloadable manual at www.ripmax.com in PDF format...if u want to print it out it is 28 pages !!

Yes there are loads of spares for this car being sold on e-bay, I initially started off my Nephew's Skyline on this chassis until I realised it was too short but some of the spares I have can actually be used on the Kyosho Chassis that it now has. (See Nissan Skyline R-34 GTR post on here to see the car)

There are numerous GX12 Engines on e-bay for this car...I have managed to bag 2 for £26 each...they come supplied without the carb as per the one on the mag...The Carb to buy separate is actually another £29.99p....I dropped lucky on e-bay and got one for £18., (Brand new as well !!)

As stated above though you should be able to pick up a good 2 channel R/C set for £40 or less quite easily.... (New that is !!!)

I have just bagged a (Perfex KT3 transmitter 27AM with stering adjuster and a pair of crystals) for £17 inc delivery.

Is this any good or are you gonna tell me i have got a "DUD" oster_oo

there`s more to a radio set than just a controller m8

you`ll need a receiver, 2 servo`s a 4xAA battery pack ( or nicad pack) and a switch harness.

i would also recomend a failsafe unit , about 10-15 pounds from most model shops, it go`s between your throttle servo and your receiver, if the signal is lost ( battery on controller dieing or out of range etc ) then the failsafe will return the servo to a preset position ( hopefully throttle of and full brake applied).

your best bet would of been to buy a complete rc set new , that way you know everything works ok , etc

you`ve got a start of a set,it`s just gonna be more work collecting the parts you need to with it
