    Advice needed please

Hi , I`m new to the forum ( 1st post ) & modeling again after 20 yrs - F1 1/20 cars only until now , just done a Tamiya 1/35 SAS jeep (good fun enjoyed messing about with the camoflage & weathering ) Tamiya 1/700 Prince of Wales warship ( enjoyed but very small bits to work with ) Tamiya 1/20 Lotus 25 1960`s F1 car ( what I used to do 20 yrs ago , enjoyed but would like to go up a level hence the airbrush question ) , I`ve got loads of questions to ask , please stick with me ,my 1st few questions are:-

Best Airbrush between £50-£100 - user friendly for a novice,

Diorama`s - I have read it is best to keep dioramas as basic as possible ie:- focus on only on one area/model etc ?

Diorama`s again - Having done a tamiya 1/700 warship what is the best water effect materials you can use.

Uploading photos - when uploading photos how do you down size photos the few I`ve done on here have come up massive ( when it comes to computers I`m a doughnut )

Best Brushes to use- as it says.

I could go on all night but that will do for now.

    Any advice is very welcome

    Cheers Guys

    Hi Richy

The easiest way IMHO to resize a pic is to download the image resizer from here :-

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx

Install it then one right click pick size and its done ! If you need advice on how to upload it just ask and i will run u through it

Ps Can I see a better pick of your sas jeep

Welcome to the forum. This is one superb site, full of friendly informative people.

I can only give my opinion on diorama 'detail'... I believe every single bit should be done with the same care and attention as the area where the model is positioned.

If you care to have a look, all the dios. on this site, including my own, adopt this philosophy. However, at the end of the day the choice is down to the individual and not to be influenced by so called experts!!!

I'm sure your other questions will be well covered by my 'learned collegues'

      Enjoy your stay, I am!

Hi Richy, there is a good airbrush thread here:

        http://www.scale-models.co.uk/painting/8252-airbrush-total-newbie.html

If that doesn't answer your question ask away and I'll try to be more specific. I think the rest has been covered.

        Cheers

Hi Richy, I'll second all that's been said already, especially Ron's advice about dio's-in that area you're only limited by the amount of time or money that you're willing to invest! I prefer to keep mine simple in order to focus on the tank but at some point I'd like to do a 'busy' one with loads of stuff contained in it. The thread that Steve has pointed you to is quite informative & as for brushes, I've got a couple of sable one's for fine work but generally I use a pack of cheap Revell one's that do sterling service so far. I've not made a ship yet but in a magazine there's an article where a guy uses an acrylic gel called 'Liquitex'. It has the consistency of toothpaste, can be sculpted while wet & dries clear. A few coats of Klear floor polish, tinted with varying shades of blue ink gives it a real sense of depth with a bit of drybrushing to pick out the whitecaps & wake. Hope that helps Patrick
