    Tamiya v Dragon

Hi Guys , after making a few tamiya models I fancy having having a go at a Dragon model ( 1/35 military ) as they have a wider range, how do Dragon compare to Tamiya , also what make of paints do Dragon suggest in the instructions , and is there a paint conversion chart I can download,

Sorry about all the questions , I`m new to this modeling game again after a 20 year break.

    Any adivce is much appreciated

Hi Richy, I asked a similar question a while back about what people thought of Tamiya & Dragon kits. I think Tamiya just shaded it, mainly due to their ease of construction, but it's true that Dragon's newer kits have more detail than Tamiya none's. A good source of kit reviews is Terry Ashley's site www.perthmilitarymodelling.com where he talks about the good bits but also points out the bad stuff too-helps to prevent those frustrating moments when upper & lower hulls don't fit! If you google paint conversion charts, you'll find a few or one of the chaps will stick in a link for one. Myself, I don't stick to the instructions that much as tanks would vary alot depending on their theater of service, length of time in action, etc. Plus weathering methods such as washes tends to darken a model anyway so a lighter than normal paintjob can help to prevent that. And don't worry bout asking, that's what makes this site so good: everybody sharing their knowledge & ideas. All the best Patrick
