Do any members actually meet up?

    Alright lads!

I was just wondering that everyone on this site seems so friendly and if any of you ever meet up? Are there any exhibitions that people go to? Of course ith my present location it's a bit difficult to pop over regularly but i'm planning to come back to Blighty pretty soon for a short holiday.

But it seems that me and my family might have to resettle back in Blighty permanently as the Russian authorities are kicking most of us Ex-pats out. If it's the case, then what's better than a little travel over Britain to have a beer and a chat with those who have something in common

I used to stay with the parents just outside St.Albans but they've recently retired and moved down to some tiny village not on the map in Devon.

    Cheers

Noble (Scott) and I tried to get some response from around our area (Chester and the Wirral) with no success.

What's more important is your imminent deportation from Russia. What am I to do with the 36 1/35 Tiger tanks I have built and packed and ready to ship to you so I can make my fortune,eh!

    Wot a copout!LOL

Funny that you should ask that Paul, coz I was wondering the same thing! At the very least, as many of us who can make it, should attend the next big show & say hello in person-maybe even a stand if such things are allowed? (being the show virgin that I am!) i'm in NE London & anyone from here is invited for a beer if they're even round my way! Patrick

I'll definately make the effort to come and visit when i'm back.

As for the visa problem, it seems to affect 90% of those here who are teachers. In Russia you can never know what's heppening day to day. But on the positive side lads, don't worry about your future billions; an emergency meeting i was just at, i was personally informed that i was fine since i'm one of the very few whose qualifications Russia recognises. So, as of 20 mins ago, it was conformed that i'm here to stay but it seems, sadly, most of my friends aren't. Out of 200 of us Ex-pat teachers from around the world, only 10 are eligible to remain here without any problems. In fact, any of the other teachers can stay here, but they all have to get 3 month business visas which means clearing off home every 90 days for 2 weeks to renew paperwork. That's too expensive and impractical. That's why no one is staying because the combined costs of everything is impossible to reach.

          Sorry to bore you lads

          Paul

We did have a meet arranged a few years back but it started to get too complicated and then getting dates that pleased everyone was a bit of a sticking point, then the guy that was arranging it passed away and no one every took it further.

Bless you Ron mate When this whole thing is up and running, i'll give you a list on what the Russkies want. It would mainly be Russian stuff though like KVs', T-34's plus a load of Soviet post war stuff. The idea is that i'd put you in contact with the Russian, i'd do the translation if needs be, and he'd pay you up front for everything. No way am i going to have guys build stuff for weeks, send it over and the Russian does a runner. No way, it's on our terms!

Yeah Patrick, i do like living here although life is hard... well, much harder for the Russians except oligarchs There's no PC here, people believe in honesty and there's above all a lot of soul in Russia. Me and all my friends say that Russia is like a woman who gets beaten by her husband; no matter how many hits you get, you still can't leave for some reason It's true. But the girls... WOW!!! Models everywhere you look

                      Hi folks.

There was some talk recently of meeting up at one or other of the modelling shows. I guess a lot of us will want to attend and try to leave our calendars free, so maybe that would help with the dates.

There was the problem of identification and someone suggested T shirts; but, with the recent development of our forum theme, the question of identification has been solved.

You just gotta wear a bucket on your head! Tee hee hee!

PS John - I think the new look is pretty good and I know you're still finishing the last bits off. Please don't forget our smilies!

PPS My thanks for all the hard work you admin guys do to provide us with such a wonderful forum.
