1st dio , very early stages - will be called Mopping up.

Hi guys , I was gutted when the site closed on saturday , I felt lost without advice being on tap , I must say it looks alot fresher and easier to get about now ( nice one John ) . anyway I`ve got the 1st base sorted for my 1st dio - called mopping up , I`m going to use a miniart house and cobbled street ( don`t feel I`ve got the skill yet to build a dio from scratch yet ) but will add rubble and accessories etc,

I love the idea of dioramas , but think its very very hard to portray a realistic action/fighting scene but a good mundane scene looks the nuts l can`t for the life of me remember who done it on here (sorry) but it was the christmas winter scene the Germans standing around a fuel drum keeping warm with the snow man in the back ground (Quality) ,

War is 99% boredom 1% sheer terror

          Alright Richy.

Your figures are looking damn good! I'm with my bud Patrick on this one. I bought a dio base - Miniart french house falling to pieces. I can't be bothered to make a full dio from scratch. Time and space is the issue for me. I've made one small one in a photo frame for my Kubelwagen which i sold but that was pretty basic.

Hi Paul , thankyou for your comments , its a shame we can`t get all the old photo`s that used to be on here, I remember your dio and the detail of your German officer with the Kubelwagon which was top class also the Brittish bren carrier , keep posting your work, as I said in a previous thread your work it gives us new boys a bench mark to follow , if I can get my work any where near your standard I will be very happy.

            All the best

            Richy.

This is shaping up nicely, Richy. Remember though, no dios. are mundane...Even the most simplest can tell a good story. on the other side of the coin they can be too complicated and you can loose the whole point of the thing.

Let's see some more pictures very soon.

Hi Ron , thats what I`m saying , the most boring dio`s can speak a thousand words if done right ( Like the German snowman scene , if you read this PLEASE re-post your pictures again I loved them ) , alot of people do an all action in your face war dio with to much happening which to me is to much , to be honest it only looks good if its done to the highest quality and has some historical meaning if you know what I mean , maybe I`m wrong and if I am I apologise,I`ve set my standards now - DAMHappy ChristmasRichy.

Thanks for your nice comments guys , I`m going to take my time but will upload some more photos as I go , anyone making or painting a Miniart dio for the 1st time have a look at their website as it shows good stage by stage diagrams on making them and painting them.
