I can only speak for 2 myself- Tamiya & Dragon. Tamiya is great for easy building (you could keep your eyes shut & still make a nice model!) and their stuff is reasonably priced. They lose out a little to Dragon in detail (stuff like weld seams, casting marks & Magic Tracks!) and although Dragon kits seem pricey, they do often include photo-etch stuff or metal barrels. However, I think their fit of parts can be suspect & I would recommend them to an inexperienced modeller.

Much like Patrick , I go for Tamiya , I`ve made some masterbox figures and have a dragon figure kit to make and for what I can see both mb & dragon look much the same - many more small parts and moulding not as good as tamiya.

Right thats my limited knowledge exhausted.

          Hi Dograt:

First things first: A model can be many things to many people. Some consider the overall accuracy and research of the subject and others the ease of construction. Both is always isdeal but rarely achieved. Revell? The nwer kits such as The Mosquito, fw190 condor and HE177 are stunning. Plus they are targeting the larger scale community. The newer Hasegawa FW190 and ME109 kits are very well researched and produce some of the best ever created-I have several but find them extremely labor intensive due to their engineering and assembly sequence. The Tamiya Spitfire is considered the best plastic model kit of all time by many professionals but probably should not be attempted by begginers due to the shear number of parts and the knowledge of each of the versions included in the kit. I just bought a Revell ME109 G-10: its shape is stunning yet the interior is soarling lacking much of the cockpit detail provided in today's kits. The Monogram\Revell 1964 P-40 is still considered the best in any scale due to its accuracy in shape and contour. HTH-Jeff

What about hasegawa? I have a few model kits by them and have found the detail to be really good

They do some very nice kits. Jeff mentioned the Bf109 (G-6) which is a superb kit and I've built a few different 109s! The one I fought with most was Eduard's. I've still got a 1/32 Revell Ju88 to build and that looks like a very nice kit. The new Tamiya Spitfire? Incredible,I have literally never seen anything like it. It is expensive but then it is aimed at the serious modeller. It will also, judging by what's in the box and the way it is engineered,be the basis for other Mks in the future. I intend to start mine at about 5.37pm on boxing day if I'm not to merry and can avoid a few bruises or,worse,an ominous silence from SWMBO!!
