    1/35 figures - rifle straps ?

Hi guys , what do you guys recommend for 1/35 rifle straps ( without spending a fortune ), after reading Tony`s post I`ve taken some samples from the xmas tree and optic tree but found them to stiff, after walking round the house looking for stuff my wife now thinks I`ve turned into a nutter, I`ve even started looking at my little lads subbuteo goal nets - they look good for camo netting , any advice would be very welcome.

Just been told I can`t touch the goal nets ( women and children are so selfish )

    Richy.

hi richy, try using the foil from around the neck of a wine bottle(it must be the metal type ,not plastic) ,I use this stuff all the time for seat belts on the smaller scale planes(and a few bigger ones if i cant get an aftermarket set) as for the camo nets try having a look at centurions thread "chieftain al capone" or someone mentioned on here recently the little bags you get to put washing powder tablets in (sorry whoever it was ,i cant find the post but all credit goes to you!) one last thing richy, have a trawl through the unconventional materials thread in the tips section, its crammed with alternative, money saving ideas. cheers tony

For the less affluent who have to drink wine with plastic tops :music_whi, if you use tomato puree in tubes, you can open up and clean the tube which is a metal foil. Bit thicker than wine tops, maybe better for covers or rolled up materials.

good tip graham , yoghurt pot lids are an option too ,especially as some of them have a texture to them as well, but for me i have to endure the endless bottles of wine to get my foil, its a rotten job but someones got to do it!!:woohoo::cheers:

I can vouch for tomato puree tubes just make sure they are clean and best to snad them down a bit, if you look at my jeep pics you can see the red of the tube showing through in places, so will sand them done better next time.

Camo net although the scale is slightly wrong, i made from the net bags for washing powder tabs, dip them in a watered down paint and hey presto.

                  Hi Richy,

Try the metal foil dishes used for chinese takeaways. You'll need to sand them to create a 'key' for your paint, but at least you won't end up as 'p****d as a newt' after consuming the contents! I don't know how some of our members stay sober enough to build anything!

                    Richy.

Another thought I had just as I pressed the 'send' button on my last post. What about the cooking foil your missus uses to wrap meats etc? That's thinner than the foil used for the dishes so might be better.

Yep, kitchen foil gets my vote....Richy, I'll just go and work out how many you could get from a 10mt. roll !!!!

Slightly off target here but Santa brought me a 1/35 set of 4 military figures. There are 197 pieces in the kit, I'm dead serious, I've counted them! The weapons are in 4 bits, that excludes the ammo clip and bayonet, even the barrels are hollowed out......But the main thing, there is a large sheet of photo etched stuff including RIFLE STRAPS, helmet straps and insignia.

One figure should see me through to next Chrimbo. Can't wait to start!!!!!!!

Hi Richy masking tape folded in half vertically and cut 1mm wide and 4mm long which will include the fold back, once painted this looks realistic when attached to the weapon, i hope this is helpful.
