He's done very well there. He isn't free to paint the instrument panel on my Ju88 is he? I've got no suitable decals in the spares!

Top stuff! There's a lot of work that's gone into doing them! Although I haven't a clue what they are! But they do remind me of the ABC warriors in the 200AD comics of my younger days! You've got some competition in your house Hugh.....

brilliant work, hugh, well done to your son. My son used to do these too and looking through some of his white dwarf mags the painting is incredible,we could all learn a lot from these guys. The good thing for me too is when he gave it up,i inherited his stash of citadel miniatures paints!! he he! very useful! cheers tony

I think the big one is a tau dreadnought and the others are Tau assault team ??????? not that it matters.

I recently sold some of the older models he had on e bay. I was really surprised at how much people will pay for them:moneyeyes: just because citadel/warhammer appeals to the teens, they certainly did and do their marketing very well tying in the paints to each model even having their own painting guides and rules(Codex) see I have the speak to LOL !!

Have to say though there models do seem to be detailed and pretty tough, I suppose they need to be to be "Played" with.

Luckily he has seen the error of his ways and at 22 he says he cant been seen to be playing with "Toys" in the house he shares with 3 blokes and 3 ladies as they would rip the p@~ out of him

so he has challenged me to a SAS jeep challenge to see who can paint it better !! I am sure we wont get round to it but it would be fun but I am sure he would beat me. :tropthy:

The bonus is I get to keep all his paints !! :bigthumb:

              reparingfood:

The downside is we have to provide him with food when he comes round on Sundays to do the painting !:cooking:

have you used the paints yet hugh? Ive done a couple of planes with them (colours mixed to suit and brush painted) and i think theyre fantastic,if a bit pricey at 2 1/2 times the price of a bottle of tamiya paint. cheers tony

Nice work to your son, pat on back on a job well done there! My eldest son has also started on his Warhammer 40k stuff, though he's rushing it a bit. Will show him your son's efforts, as it will give him something to aspire to. Well done!

They look great Hugh, not only the paint job which is superb, but the ground effect is also very good. Have to confess that when I did a bit of wargaming years ago, I had a dwarf army for the odd sunday when we did Warhammer. Citadel paints are very good, especially the metallic. I like to use their Boltgun Metal which is a very good gunmetal. They do some nice inks (washes) that I am using on my BMW M/C & Sidecar build. However, they are (as mentioned) expensive paints but for me, it is the only shop in Peterborough I can walk into and get some colours.

Anyone interested in figure painting should have a look in their local Games Workshop, full of kids but some really good painters. When I was in last getting some bits, the manager asked me to bring in my German figures and he would show me some tips on painting them. You can do this using their paints which they have out on tables every Saturday for kids to learn. Like it or not, these sessions are well attended and each of those kids is a potential modeller.

Yes Ryan said when he went into Games workshop in Exeter he felt a bit of a T2a5 but he said once the guys in store got talking to him they were REALLY helpful and liked also talking to someone there own age !!

He managed to buy the "Things" he wanted and unlike the local indie store gave him a load of paints thrown in.

Its a shame in a way because he did go to the "Local" place which sells WH and asked them if they would at least match the price or even come within a few quid of it so he didnt have to drive the 40 miles to go to the WH shop and they didnt want to know, silly really as a shop you need in these times to bend over backwards to help customers especially the ones which you are going to get repeat business from. Hey ho.
