1st Dio ! British troops Mopping up , Northern France 1944

Finally got it done gents, well nearly I`ve got to get some perspex cut to make a display case , a big thankyou to all the guys who have encouraged and advised me without this it would not have been as fun , I hope I can call on you all again for my 2nd dio which will be scenic and based in the Ardennes , its a big challenge but one I can`t wait to start ,

Still lots of room for improvement but am happy with the start I`ve made once again cheers lads.

    Hi Richy

Looks absolutely fantastic. You've got the weathering on the house spot on; it's not overdone thus looks realistic. And i love the soldiers too. How long did it take you to paint all of them and did you use enamels or acrylics?

    Cheers

    Paul

Richy mate this is mint, very well done. It tells not one but two stories.....the dejected prisoners off to the cage and the paratroopers discussing their next move.

      Truly a credit to you.

You must be well chuffed and rightly so.

Absolutely stunning Richy, it really is. The story is well told by the prisoners and guards moving through the scene and the civi talking to the Paras, it is obviously the beginning of the end for the men in grey suits.

Can I ask a favour? Would you have a go at shooting the scene from their eye level? I think it would look really impressive. Not extreme close ups, just a natural view point from characters level.

Very inspiring build and well documented throughout, thanks for sharing.

PS, I noticed in one of the build shots a couple of bottles of Foam Snow. I was going to ask what you had planned for them, looks like it is time to dig a shallow fox hole in the snow of the Ardennes. Now that will be quite something.

If i had done that for my first Dio i would be seriously chuffed as hell.:grinball2:

I am just worried now you have set such a very high benchmark !! for all us newbies cos I still have to complete my 3 model let alone a dio :bounce:

Richy, that's truly wonderful. The weathering on the house is spot on. It would have been so easy to overdo it and spoil the effect.

I gotta agree with Graham though. It would be nice to see a few eye level pics.

Very, very well done Richy, that is a fantastic dio! A simple concept, yet it speaks volumes about what's going on. All the elements are really well made & you should be very proud of yourself. So now it's off to the Ardennes eh? ;-) keep up the good work! Patrick

Thanks for the nice comments gents , I`ve tried to add some eye level photos - a better camera is on the never ending list to get !

Hi Paul it took about 6-7 weeks doing a bit here and there and when time allowed, ( I don`t like to rush things ), as for paints I used acrylics - started with tamiya but moved over to vallejo ( a better paint in my opinion )

Hi Patrick and Graham , yes of to the Ardennes next - well sort of , I`m going up in the loft and down to the shed to hunt out some 1/2 inch mdf for the base , when start it I will keep you up to date guys.

                    Once again cheers lads
