1/35 Hornet heads

Hi Guys , Does anyone have any experience with hornet heads , at the moment I`m concentrating only on 1/35 figures for my dios , I would love to use resin figures but they are so expensive , are hornet heads worth getting if so do these heads fit tamiya and dragon torso`s with a bit of trimming here and there, also being a novice is it just wise to try and master the basic heads first then move on to the hornet heads when more experienced,

Any advice is very welcome

Hi Richy, I haven't used them myself but from what I've read, Hornet heads are very well respected for their quality & detail. I think to use them to best effect, your painting skills would need to be tip-top. I certainly wouldn't try them yet! I think they would fit most figures with a bit of trimming & filling, especially if used with Dragon Gen2 figures as these come with separate heads already. In fact, I would recommend this line of figures (if the ones available fit your dio plans) coz they're very detailed-a good middle ground perhaps. Patrick

Cheers Patrick , If I think about it - your right - while I`m still learning maybe its better just to stick to the basic kits and try to get the best out of them as I can without throwing my hard earned down the drain, its hard enough trying to get a figure looking okay without everything else involved , its a massive learning curve but I`m loving every minute of it , trouble is I`m trying to run before I can walk ,

With so many modelling extras out there its hard not to get involved,

I`m turning into a modelaholic

Funny you should mention separate heads, the figures that come with the Tamiya Field kitchen have separate heads. which I hope, given the raised collar on the body neck will help get a more realistic line between the head and the jacket. I wasn't aware that you could buy third party heads.

I know the feeling mate! My credit card burns a hole in my pocket every time I go online! And just to answer Graham, I don't know about that Tamiya kit, but the Dragon Gen 2 figures I mentioned not only have separate heads but also separate boots & hands so you get a very realistic look. Even the weapon muzzles are drilled out! Patrick
