    Vallejo matt

Hi people! Has anyone used Vallejo matt varnish? If so, how did they find using it & what did you use to thin it, if that's needed. I've got some other matt varnish but I'm worried about getting that white 'bloom' TIA Patrick

I've used the Vallejo Model Air matt varnish which I did thin very slightly with Vallejo's own brand thinner. I've also added it to Klear to take most of the glossiness off. No problems with it.

Thanks Steve, glad to hear it's ok to use. I want to try Vallejo for my Uhu as I don't think Tamiya paints will give a sufficiently good finish. Patrick

I got some Humbrol matt varnish but it gave it a gloss finish, I mentioned it to the guy at my local model shop and he said he uses Vallejo varnish and nothing else, there's not a better one on the market.

I have the Vallejo matt and I just love it. I have done a couple of things with it and I have only thinned it with water, about 70%varnish 30% water and it works well brushed. Cannot comment re airbrush yet, maybe in a couple of weeks I will be joining the airbrush debate/comments.....

hi patrick , i use vallejo matt every time i want a matt finish, and ive found it to be great. I use the same technique as graham-thin with distilled water to about 30/70 ( varnish to water) and spray it on in a couple of misted coats. cheers tony
