I'm building a car and was very careful not to get glue on windows and glass, but as I was putting in the windscreen my finger slipped and now I have a big mark right in the middle, is there anything I can use for damage limitation?

Oooo, don't ya just hate it when that happens. I suppose it is a case of very fine sanding down to something as fine as toothpaste to get rid of as much as possible. If it still looks a bit scratchy when you have sanded as fine as you can go, a dip in clear may restore it. -
John does'nt nail varnish remover remove glue? I'm sure I read somewhere it does.

Would nail varnish remover fog the plastic? As far as I know, acetone which is the basis of most nail varnish removers will melt plastic. In fact, I seem to remember some of the early liquid cements being acetone based. They worked very slowly though if I remember right.. I am sure someone will prove me wrong though.Comment

Graham you might be right about it fogging up clear parts I think most people use it to remove glue from over spills on the main body of models, I remember using braso for cleaning up models when I was a kid but I don't know if that would work on clear parts

What sort of glue? If it has etched the clear part you will have to sand/polish it out,followed by a dip in Klear. Other glues,that don't melt the plastic, can be removed with WD40 or something like Goo-Gone.

What car and what scale? I only ask 'cos if it's too far gone, I once replaced the clear window parts with exposed 35mm film. The windows need to be flat though. Mine was an old Citroen. Or else get buffing!

hi john , if its the wallace and gromit land rover then the windows are flat arent they? You could always cut a new windscreen from any clear plastic type material.Try the lid from a punnet of morrisons strawberries (and theyre only £1 at the mo!!!) Maybe airbrush a translucent ink onto it? I'm guessing! Don't know. Stretch a balloon over it. What about matt varnish, black wash, coat of klear?Comment
