    Ardennes dio update

Hi gents , after getting some great personal advice from Ron you can see this dio has changed big time from my last photo`s , at the moment its only an update with still loads of snagging and accessories to do , the only figures who have earned their place is the radio bloke the mortar blokes ( one still being made ) the rest are subject to change with more figures and accessories added if needed ,

    Cheers Ron

This is excellent Richy, I am glad I could be of some help with it, although looking at this cracking work, it's not been all that neccessary!

    Well done, mate.

If you can bear with me a mo Richy, Just had a thought.......I hope no one thinks I've gone 'round the back door' sending Richy a P.M. and not publicly criticising / helping his dio., it's just that I find it nye on impossible to print for all to see, thinking people will think me pickie, sorry but that's the way it is, can't help it.... Pathetic really, but hey ho!

Thanks Richy, post some more photos asap,

    Ron

I second what Ron has said , with my previous ardennes update I asked for any suggestions/advice about the scenery ( I had far to many trees in my opinion ) and Ron sent me a pm out lining what would look good and what would not look good which would have be boring ( to you lot not me ) if it had been in the thread.

I think it looks excellent Richy-clearly Ron's advice worked although I think your natural ability shines through with this & your previous dio. Only thing I would suggest (if it's not too late) is a slightly darker mud colour at the bottom of the trench where the water/slush would collect. But that's just a very minor point & it doesn't detract from a fascinating & action-packed scene. I look forward to seeing it finished.

Looks great Richy. Don't sweat the private advice either. These things turn into our babies and you don't want the wind blown out of your sails for all to see. I'm pretty sure that's not what Ron did. Unless you work in the design industry, so you're used to getting your ideas shat on from a great height! Really though, massive improvement in the layout, can really feel the tension. Would second Patrick though. Darker/wetter(?) mud in the mortar pit. Sorry.

Nothin wrong with PM advice, it is specific and personal to this project. If Gern had not PMd me a couple of times, I would not have got the Horse drawn convoy from ebay. I am sure he could have posted it on here but then all you guys would have gone on and bumped the price up for me

Great work on the Dio, it is going to be a stunner.

This is cold Richy, the way you've done the snow is excellent matey. As Graham said "this is going to be a stunner".

                Keep on having fun, John

Thanks for the nice comments guys , everything I`m trying and doing with the ground work is a 1st for me even doing figures is still a learning curve so any advice is more than welcome , Hi Patrick its never to late to alter things mate and will have a go at the changes you and Ron have given me. I`m off work on thursday and friday so should move things on a bit and will post a few more photo`s .

Hi Tony don`t be sorry mate , all advice is good advice whether its positive or negative.

                  Cheers

I'm going to chance my arm here, as an ex-soldier not a modeller, but your troopies are way too clean (unless you're planning to change that). I couldn't keep the mud off my kit, especially boots and trousers, knee down, and from visiting the area every year for the past 14 sometimes more than once, the mud needs to be much browner with a faint hint of redness.

Despite all that, I only wish I could do as well.
