Scale modelling can be a most absorbing pastime, and for many like myself perhaps a way of life in itself, however from my own experiences there is nothing better than being a member of a well run club to enhance the hobby and meet other model builders say once a month. The friendly exchange of ideas and banter takes some beating and above all it really helps your learning curve.Last night we had the annual model auction and I came back with a big heap of kits to build, regular build nights are held where we sit around a large table do some modelling and enjoy each others company, there is always laughter and comraderie.
Perhaps we are fortunate in having such a keen bunch of people and have an excellent venue to meet up,a live air museum surrounded with the real thing if we need detail to add to our models,it not only assists the funds for the museum itself but members can use the display cabinets to show their models if they wish,it is very much a two way business where both parties gain.
So my advice is to look out your local scale model club and try a meeting, you never know it could get you out of the house for a while and bring a renewed social aspect to your hobby ? and above all add extra enjoyment.
The local library is a good place to start looking, there are hundreds of clubs throughout the country, but if you have the stamina why not start your own club ? you never know it could be a big success. :gathering
