Dragon are up there with the best of them, especially for armour. Depends what you are after but they can be quite expensive, because they are good, so shop around for good prices.
I've built 2 of them so far & I'd say choose your kit carefully. There's no doubt that for detail they have no rival, especially the newer kits. Stuff like weld beads, cast details on the hull & the PE that's included really add to the overall effect.
However, I've had a few issues with fit (not as good as Tamiya) & their instructions, which leave a lot to be desired! Before you buy, check out the reviews at Terry Ashley's site Perth Military Modelling Site coz he gives it straight & highlights the problems as well as the good stuff.
Don't buy Dragon's Porsche suspension Jagdtiger unless you enjoy frustration!
Dragon models I highly recommend. The detail is really top-notch, they even come with photo-etched parts, sometimes they're even pre-bent. Best deal for the money really, I was actually surprised at how "Cheap" they were, I've seen a few for about $35USD, thats about £23
Alright Scottie. I was thinking about ordering a Dragon kit. I'm doing research comparing Dragon, Trumpeter, and Academy. Not including Tamiya because those Jap Models are supreme!!! Good luck with asking the wife though. I use the subtle approach of giving my missus some money to go shopping with then when she comes home and says "Darling, i've over spent!" i just reply, "Don't worry my love, i accidentally spent an extra 50 quid on modelling stuff!" Works every time ))
Well My Sherman was my first Dragon and It will NOT be the last. The level of Detail is very high. Dragon listen to critic and act upon it. I have seen many remarks about people telling Dragon of problems or errors and Dragon put things right!
Maybee I am alone in thinking that the cost could be brought down by not having one compleat kit and enough 'extra parts' to build almost half a tank. The Mk III kit had two sets of running and road wheels, two sets of boggies, two front diff cases and two rear transoms! The Instrucktions are as mentioned confussing and have the odd bit missing. READ THEM CAREFULLY
I still wonder why they chose not to include the main machine-gun in the kit.
I am already looking for my next Dragon kit anyway.
Not long finished a Dragon JU88 A4 which was a very good kit, but also built the ME262 which was dire. Posted pictures of finished model.
