I used to wargame using very small, but beautifully made, cast metal vehicles in what was known as Micro Armour. An M1 main battle tank, I used to do modern not WWII, was about 20 to 25mm long. I cannot remember the make of them now but there is Skytrex, at between £4 -£8 per main battle tank, they were too rich for my blood but I did have two Abrams teams of Skytrex given to me and the were gorgeous. The ones I had were much cheeper and not as good. However for wargaming they looked right and they painted up into lovely accurate looking models.

At its height I had well over 200 Nato vehicles and nearly 400 Soviet, on the table 8 foot by 12 foot, they looked amazing.

GHQ make some good stuff to, have a look at them here

      Hi Mike,

I think most wargamers use 1/144 scale for their battles. Some are die-cast at around £4 a tank & you can also get figures & scenery/terrain stuff too, or make your own! If you google '1/144 wargaming', I'm sure you'll find alot of info.

How it's actually played I don't know but I'd guess it's similar to the fantasy-style games being turn-based with hit points etc.
