    Greater Peterborough Model show

Well, I visited my first model show today in my hometown of Peterborough. I could easily have spent a decent lottery win while I was there. Sadly, I didn't have one so I had to limit my budget a bit. Only bought a couple of items. An Airbrush cleaning Pot form the Little Cars stand and an Eduard 1:48 Albatros D.V. Interesting kit, or kits as there is two aircraft in the box with schemes and decals for four versions with the pilots name and details. The kit also includes two sets of Photoetch which I have never used before on a Biplane that needs rigging which I have never built before. God, I just love this hobby

Anyway, I took a few snaps while I was there but I won't clog up the server with them, here is a Link to my own website gallery page for the show. Just playing about building a website, nothing new for you guys as I have got it all on here but it will grow eventually to include reference and other stuff.

However, there were a couple of pics I wanted to post on here for specific reasons. The first is because of the great idea of the jerrycan base for the diorama, the second because the great idea of casting a plane in resin to show it under water, lost at sea is the title. The third, and I realise you may not be able to see it to great in this pic, uses the new laser cut paper leaves and plants that you can paint up to suit what you want. Trust me, those ferns to so real its unbelievable.

      Hi Graham,

Thanks for posting the pics. I'm off to Cosford in April. I'll try and do the same - although I'll have to put the pics here as I'm no good with 'puters and wouldn't know where to start setting up links etc.

I was very impressed with the 'underwater' plane. The guy's done a smashing job with the surface of the water. That ripple effect that blurs the view is just what I need to hide the blemishes an' mistakes on my kits! Any idea how he did it?

Wow that under the water one is amazing! But isn't the Meteor/V-1 an offering from our very own Tony aka Yak-Face?

And thanks for that link-there are some brilliant (is it me or does no-one say 'brilliant' any more, apart from me, of course!) models on there. Mucho inspiration!

No, the guy who made it was not there. However, you have to think upside down. The top of the water would have been the bottom of the mould with the aircraft laid upside down near the top. The whole thing would be then inverted much like a jelly mould. That being the case, the ripple effect could have been achieved by using pattern glass for the bottom of the mould which would leave the inverse pattern in the resin. Very clever and really great to look at in real life, not easy to photograph with on camera flash in a darkish corner.

I think Tony's meteor/bug is actually connected at the wing tips, I think Tony's is better to be honest.

Yeah you're right now that I've had a butchers at his gallery-same idea but as you say, Tony's execution of it is better, more action-packed if you see what I mean.

Thanks Patrick but I sat down in front of my computer tonight at 8:30 with a view to check emails, make a few posts and upload the pics from my camera. I also wanted to update my fledgling site with these so I could link to them and then get the boxes and oil drums done ready for the French Carrier. I also picked up today a selection of frames from the Pound shop for scenic bases, mine won't be posh enough to be true dioramas lol. It is now 12 past midnight and I have not touched anything modelling. really need to time manage myself lol, work is backing up a bit here, the Eurofighter keeps peeping out wondering when it will get finished as do a stable of horse and a smattering of carts. So much to do and so little time.

hi graham , great pics of some fantastic models. I especially like the 109 under the water, like you say it must have taken some thinking about what with it all being upside down during construction , really original thinking too (with that sort of mind ,im surprised hes not a member on here) Thanks to you and patrick for the compliments on my version of the meteor /v1 .( the full thread with all the background info is in aircraft pics section) finally good luck with your personal website, i could never manage anything like that , im a computer dunce! cheers tony
