    Aerials

    Morning everybody.

I want to add a 'whippy' aerial to the PzH 2000. What does everybody else use?

I read that somebody else uses florists wire.

I'm off to B&Q later and was going to have a look around there later.

I was thinking about a piece of a guitar string, like a B or an E string? These would be fairly rigid. I might have a look there too.

    STOP PRESS

I was just in the shed and i spotted a broom with nylon bristles. They're about 3" long, and exactly the same gauge as the stubby ones on the kit too.

Had a quick count up, and i reckon i have enough aerials for about 3500 tanks!!

Hmmm, i need a bigger shelf to put them on, me thinks!!

I use a bit of stretched spru. Then you can have it as long short soft stiff as you like. (that sounds wronge in so many ways :-O). And you can often get away with out painting it!

I've used bristles from paint brushes (as in decorating your house, not painting models) in the past.

I use fuse wire. A card is only a couple of bob and you get 4 thicknesses of wire.

I've got a small collection of cat whiskers that I use. They are suitably whippy and have natural-looking bends and curves.

As a cat lover though, I gotta tell you I'll be MOST upset if I hear of cats crying in pain in your neck of the woods! All mine have been carefully collected as they were shed naturally!

Accurate Armour do carbon fibre whip aerials, the ones I have seen are perfectly in 1:35 scale, really thin yet strong. Link here

hi dave , ive used the guitar string method ,but all of the above are excellent solutions too. Also check out the unconventional materials thread , i posted one about fibre optic filaments recently , they look good too. cheers tony. ps. i read somewhere that the right size for a radio aerial in 1/35 was about 57mm , so the brush bristles might not be long enough. I stand to be corrected on this as im only a plane guy !
