    1:35 scale wooden bridge

would anyone have any plans for a basic wooden bridge or even a bailey type bridge. i have an idea for a dio but cannot seem to find any basic plans or sizes for such a bridge. i have seen some manufactured by a company called bastion 35 but would rather try building some myself.

Hi Andy i have some measurements for you, i have taken these from my Bastions bridge kit, it is the multispan beam bridge L class(well thats what is says)

The overall height of the bridge is 100.6mm/ 4.5 inch(this is from the base of the stanchion support to the top hand rail

The stanchion supports (8 in total) are 65mm/ 2.5 inch in length, the stanchion supports(round dowel) are 6mm in diameter.

The bridge has 4 long beams running the length of the bridge these are 185mm/ 7.5 inch, these are placed on top of 2 wooden seperate beams 100mm/ 4 inch , 5mm square these are placed on top of the stanchion bases.

There are 31 wooden decking planks these are 90 mm/3.6inch in length, 1mm depth , 5mm wide.

There are 4 cross member planks these sit across the stanchion supports these are 100 mm/ 4 inch, 1 mm depth, 7 mm wide.

This type of bridge has guard/ hand rails these are the same lengh as the 4 wooden beams 185mm in length, there are 6 of these they are 3 mm square, there are also 8 down right supports for the guard/hand rails these are 3mm square and 25mm/ 1 inch in length.

I have added a few pics and i hope this helps with my measurements so that it gives you a rough guide in the measurements and how this type of bridge is put together, if there is anything else you need help with please let me know.

Andy if you go onto the Bastions site they have different styles of bridges, these are all different styles and some of them look really good, especially the super heavy bridge for heavier loads, you may well want to do something like these, i have posted some pics of these from their site, see what you think.
