    New User Says Hello

    Just a quick Hello,

This is a RETYPE as IE LOGGED ME OUT :sobbing:

I have been on many forums over the years, but this is the first modelling forum i have ever signed up to, as my longest standing hobby has always been something i've done on my own. LOL.

My main genres are as follows:

WWII & Cold War Aircraft in 1/72nd Scale

    Most Cars in 1/24th Scale

    WWII Armour in 1/35th Scale

I have been doing the planes since i was 11, the cars since i was 16, and the tanks since December. I like collecting and building in sets [Ferrari Collection, Cold War Russian Jets etc]

Never used airbrushes, vacform, or photoetch, i have used resin once for a Mig 3 i did a while back, but i ended up thinking it was more trouble than it was worth as the parts were impossible to cut out with scalpels and broke very easily when you didnt want them to. All the planes i have done have been brush painted. i have used rattle cans on a few, but mainly the rattle cans are used on the Cars as you i couldnt get convincing paintwork with a brush. i havent really done much weathering, and only consistenly used such methods on the tanks recently. i think the small scale of the planes makes it very difficult to do it convincingly with my tools and skills, so i have generally left most of them pristine. i have got some good results with the tanks though.

    Here are some examples:

Revell KV-1, First Tank done in December:

Fujimi Alpina C1 2.3 Circa 2005 ish, In BMW Zinnobar Red

Airfix Republic P-47D Thunderbolt Circa 2004

I like collecting them rather than spending absolutely ages on all of them... however that doesnt mean i just rush everything all the time...

I think the next move for me may be Vac-form... there are a few planes i want in my collection that arent available off the shelf, but in the meantime i have a build pile of about 15 or 20 kits to do first! i also have two balsa wood planes too. LOL.

Hiya and a warm welcome to the Scale Models Forum. Sounds like you have interests that fit in with most on here. Love the KV-1. Never had a go at a car or bike so that is a pleasure to come.

Cheers for the Hello guys, its good to have some hellos as on some forums in tha past i have just been ignored [mainly bike forums, probably because i didnt have an R1 or some other silly fast bike]

i have tried a bike, its still not finished. Tamiya NSR250 IIRC.

if i could do the KV1 again i would bend the tracks so they arent straight across the rollers on the top. i wouldnt bother with the bendy ones as they are rubbish [complete pain in the back to do on the T34 i did last month]

funnily enough i found this forum looking for a "how to do vacform' article, which was posted on here.... i liked the look of the forum and realised i wasnt on a modelling one, so here i am. LOL.

Yakface, i take it by the hat you are into your russian stuff too....

i dont suppose you got it in the Modelzone sale did you? thats where i got mine

I did go and have a gander at the modelzone sale but didnt see any hats, just as well really or id have bought one as well as the 3 kits!!! Re your last post about the signatures, im sure you can add them on using the 'my profile' bit at the top right of the page, cheers tonylane:

Signatures are available, there may have to be so many posts before they activate. I know on some forums you have to post so many to prevent questionable signatures being used.

Just click on the "Settings" link at the top right of the page. On the page that loads up, there is a "My Settings panel on the left with a link to "Edit Signature"

                    Cheers everyone

Yak face, you have an Order of the Great Patriotic War? Wicked! i picked mine up in Bulgaria at christmas from a military antiques shop. it lives next to the KV1 and the T34 on the living room window sill. lol. its not an original, its one of the 1985 reissues, but its the first order, and i'm confident its not a copy due to the serial number.

i'll just check my profile for the edit signature, couldnt find it last time i logged in.
