    Scratch built boats

Is there anybody out there building model boats with basic materials, I mean take a piece of tree or a odd chair leg or someone's old front door, turn it into a model boat, I never buy parts I always make everything, usually out of scrap

hi david, im sure there are quite a few people who do similar stuff to you (bunkerbarge springs to mind), even if there arent the rest of us are still keen to see someone elses area of expertise. The boat looks fantastic, and you say its all scratchbuilt, amazing. It looks quite a size too ,is it a static model or is it destined for the pond, either way it looks a beauty well done. Dont be shy of showing your pics for fear that not many people will be interested, in fact its the opposite, were all glad to see something new and different. cheers tony

      hi there

i love this model you have built from scrap, very cheap way of keeping busy i suppose. i would like to say i do this but unfortunately i dont. i do make some of my own parts . e.g , on my pt boat i used an old hoover pipe to make the gun tubs and electrical wire for the railings and mast and depression rails etc.

I have a meter long model of the speed boat Slomoshun sitting in the shed waiting for some varnish. That was built from scratch, but I must confess to buying the wood.

One day if I ever get it done, I'll post a photo of it.
