Frustration , had a nightmare

Hi guys , learnt a big lesson today , as most of you know I`m a re-born modeller who`s only really done a few figures and a house since I`ve been back , with figures I normally give a prime then a 1st coat on the sprue then make them and weather etc etc , today going through my normal procedure it went belly up with the figures falling apart , from now on I will be making my figures then priming then painting them ,

You think your coming on leaps and bounds then the modelling god brings you back down to earth

my ardennes figures went wrong so I cracked on with some other stuff :- chassis for Quad tractor (touching in still to do) making and priming mk2 matilda

tomorrow I will reload , clean up the figures to the bare pastic that need glueing and try again

I've been there too. Spent a while trying out weathering with pastels, and then washed the lot away with a matt laquer!!!

But i was rescued by Mr Magners, as opposed to the helping hand that you seem to have had from Mr Carling (in the background, pic 4)

Did the primer overspray onto where the glue needed to go Richy? That may be why the figures didn't stay together. I've done it myself before so now I always sand or scrape the surfaces before glueing them.

Yep, we've all been there. With figures now, i clean them up first, glue them together then drill a hole in the feet to stand on a rod to hold whilst painting. One of the challenged i have when starting with a new kit is in what stages i'm going to build, prime and paint etc. I'm building Tamiya's Pibber at the mo for the missus' dad who used to be a naval officer in the Soviet Navy. I've had to prime about 10 different sections which will be painted before gluing. So i'll be using a cocktail stick and maybe a dab of Locktite to keep the pieces together.
