    It's a dogs life

Just about two weeks ago i had to have one of my dogs put to sleep due to him having a large stroke which was hard enough to deal with then we go out and get another pup a cross pointer/collie (Pollie) called thomas. He was just six and a half weeks old and needed a lot of time spent with him.

I am still trying to build my tiger but that is not easy with a pup trying to make sure he stays out of trouble, he will get his first vac in the morning and i can't wait till he gets his second so that i can tire him out to let me get back to my model.

So i am still about but those dam dogs rule my life...LOL

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thats one hansom chap you got hold of there.

I used to have dogs when I lived in England. Now We have cats! Not half the trouble as a dog, but they sure can let you know whos boss.

Might well get a dog again, but as you have said they do take rather a lot of looking after. A cat on the other hand is happy as long as its got a place to sleep and gets fed. WHEN IT WANTS IT!

My two 17 month old German Shepherds have taken over enough of my life to prevent me doing a lot of the things (like learning modelling) I'd like to do.

But like Flying Scottiedog, who'd be without them.

Just lost a 17 year old cat so I can sympathise with Scotties loss.

Know where you are coming from Allan. I lost one of my Boxers to cancer last year and my other one has just been diagnosed as having a malignant (sp?) tumor. Miss the first one like mad and when this one finally goes to the rainbow bridge i am going to be getting another two. The house will be too quiet without them.

That is a very handsome young puppy you have there at six and a half weeks mate i would lock up your models and anything else not tied or glued to the floor best of luck with him.

After reading the contents of this thread it seems quite a few of us have lost pets so I hope you guys don't mind me posting a picture of my mate Digby, a Mastif x Alsation. At least that was what the vet reckons he was! I think a Lab. was involved somewhere..

We lost him this Easter to a tumor, he was only four......

He was a rescue dog and although only with us a short time, he brightened every day we had him with his open love, trust and loyalty.

To all you people who have never had a dog or cat I trust you will put up with this kind of thread just this once please.

It will be gone in a few days, but my memories of this animal will take a lot, lot longer to fade, if ever...

              Thanks,

              Ron

Missed this one, sorry guys. Lovely dog Allen, looks a handful lol. Having two labs, I know what it can be like at that age.

Ron, no need to worry about posting your pic of Digby, he looks a handsome chap and don't you just love the expression in his eyes. I know all too well what it is like to lose a dog. I have lost relatives and not felt as bad as losing a dog. While ever he is in your memory, he is immortal and his work in creating love has been done.

Lost my GSD 12 years ago, and still miss him, more than some humans! That final visit to the vet is something you never forget. Commiserations to all in the same boat.
