A couple of good things happened for me thanks to you.

While at the Hinckley show a couple of months ago, as well as meeting up with Dave I also had a chat with Geoff Coughlin, author of some really good modelling books and owner of the fairly new online magazine 'Scale Modelling Now' while Dave was out trying to rent a trailer to get his stash home ;-)

Scale Modelling Now is not a forum, it is a subscription internet magazine that works very well as it is updated regularly and has some really good features. While showing me the magazine, I asked Geoff about submitting 'guest' reviews to the magazine and he asked me to send him something to look at.

The upshot is that I did a full build review of the MiniArt 1:35 Harley Davidson which has been accepted and the first part has been published. My FW190 'Green3' is also now in the magazines 'Readers Gallery'. Also possibilities of other build reviews to follow.

Secondly, anyone who watches the Promodellers weekly news video will see I get a mention in the video for the French carrier I did and they have turned it into a full photo build for all to see.

If you think that I came back to modelling in November 2009, joined this forum in December 2009 and because of the support, encouragement and friendship of this forum I have achieved the above then all I can say is a big thank you to you guys and for anyone who is struggling with heir models like I did, this is definitely the place to be.

    Thanks Guys

Onwards and upwards Graham! Well done mate. Your builds deserve wider recognition so keep up the good work.

I hope you won't be forgetting your old mates when you're rich and famous though. We'll still want to talk to you! lol

PS I wasn't off looking for a trailer. I was after a cash point so I could finish paying for the stuff I'd reserved!

That's fantastic news Graham and as much as i'd really love to read your review theres just no way i'm paying to subscribe to yet one more thing, it especially galls me when it's online as theres such a tremendous wealth of freely accessible info there and call me old fashioned but theres something about holding a flesh and blood (figuratively speaking), magazine in your hands, I can fully appreciate that the man puts in tremendous effort and the site looks good but i'll have to miss out on this one.

In addition to the above I also spend far too much time browsing and reading online as is, there have been no end of times i've mentally kicked myself for watching and reading more online how to's when during the time I could have sprayed one kit, prepped another and cleaned my brush out instead of thinking about what I can do to the model whilst browsing.

But well done you, you must be very pleased, I know I would be, that's a great ego boost and you do have some cracking models.

Thanks guys but this isn't about me becoming famous and rich, it is about how this forum can, and has, helped a very poor modeller gain the confidence and ability by sharing with people like you guys.

Subscribing to an online thing be it a magazine, forum or anything of course has to be a personal choice m1ks. I subscribe to a couple of things on the internet and am glad I do. Yes it is nice to gave a hard copy magazine in your hands, especially if you accept that when you pay for it, you get half a mag and a book of adverts. I do buy magazines and I love them but I don't expect anyone to give me something for nothing. I am very grateful when they do and I have the greatest of respect for people like John who run a forum like this one without asking for payment to do it. I do sometimes think that we forget how much it does cost them to do it though and we take it for granted that we should get it for nothing. Nothing is ever free, somewhere someone is paying for what we think we get for nothing.

As for the Scale Modelling Now online magazine, it is run as a business as are all magazines and they have a right to ask for payment just as people have a right to subscribe or not. By the way. I don't get anything for writing the reviews, I don't want anything for writing them. Writing, photography and modelling are my hobbys and I intend that they will stay that way. I do it for the fun of it and it costs me nothing but a little time to do it. I just love being part of the modelling community and long may it be so.

Great stuff! Well done. Prehaps after a month of it being on the net, They might give permission to put the article on here, or have you been sworn to exclusivity?

The internet is the worlds biggest library, agreed but there is nothing quite like the smell of a glossy mag. (and you can read it in the loo).

Well done Graham, maybe you could ask if you could post a small section of your review and if anyone wants to read the full thing they can subscribe, it might help them get a few more subscribers
