Citadel paints, Trying out Grahams recommendations

After seeing a couple of grahams bits, (ooeerr missis), i'm impressed with the look of the Citadel metallics so thought I'd try and get some and give em a go.

Picked up some silver metallics and a blue which hopefully will do for a kit I have in mind and closer than any blue Tamiya and Humbrol enamels do.

Have to say being the first time i've really looked at them, (as never been a games workshop type), I love the colour names.

Snot Green and Scab Red specifically stood out, (Snot green being what my lovely wife calls my Kawasaki, I keep trying to correct her to Kawasaki racing green but to no avail alas)

To clarify, they are Acrylics aren't they, (just to make sure before I thin them for use!)

Yep they are indeed acrylic. I thin with an alcohol based thinner like Tamiya but they do thin with water as far as I know. Good luck, I think you will find them quite good.

It might be a little off topic but i found game workshop sell some really good brushes.By which i mean their sizes go down to well,very small . Perfect for very detailed work. I only found out as my younger brother ( he is well into his late thirties),is a secret miniature figure painter. I asked how he painted them so finely and he showed me a brush with about 8 hairs on it. The one i have is so old it doesn't have the size on it anymore . Sorry for going off topic but some of these shops sell some really good things and lets be honest these shops are full of youngsters and most of us would stick out like a sore thumb.

Excellent, will just use my Isopropyl alcohol or Tamiya, (I use IPA with all the Tamiya acryl's and it thins nicely, bargain at about a fiver delivered for a litre too)

Not off topic at all, very useful in fact, i'll take a look next time i'm in there, my local games workshop, (ha!, 85 miles away and is a part of the toy shop so not as well stocked as some, though they had a decent range of the Citadel paints)

We have one in town. But when i try to get my 8 year old son to " come in with me to have a look round" he just looks at me as if i am an idiot and says " get a life dad". OH the joys of parenthood.

Isopropyl alcohol, that is what I use but can never spell it lol. Good info on the brushes and I agree. They are not cheap but they are very good brushes. If you have a local Hobbycraft, they sell Citadel paints and brushes to. The Skull white by the way is one of the best whites around, very good coverage.

I am glad you mentioned the White. Am I the only person who has trouble with White paint of any brand?.I find it just doesn't cover very well at all.So I am going to try some of that .
