A good film where the watchers emotions run high and low ..... even if you're not interested in wartime and U boats

I just hope that it's shown in it's entirety ....I know it's a directors cut ..but i've seen directors cuts of films shown on TV where they've cut scenes for viewing, even after the watershed ... for what reason? .. god only knows Comment

Das is quality stuff. So good you are almost with them. Scenes in the conning tower with the spray & water real stuff. Elation & fear come over in true measure really gritty stuff. The captain is some actor a really down to earth performance.Originally posted by \It is one of the better one init!Even the wife thought it was good enough to see twice!

Read the book & it is even better & that is saying something. Could not put it down the first time I read it.

Thanks for the reminder Ian it had passed me by.

Now watched it all the way through. Long time since I have viewed it & it was like a new film.

What a film. The tension is quite incredible & the stress shown on the faces of the actors was as if it was being filmed during the real thing.

Jurgen Prochnov who played the Captain was just something else. The moods he portrays throughout you live it with him.

Yes Colin no cuts everything included the boggy------------- ? & horrible bare bums plus others. Bit Yucks in places but that would be it. And no dubbing of English. All subtitles amazing how you forget they are subtitles. Also remarkable how close English is to German when spoken.

The use of the music was so cleverly used to enhance the tension & stress.

PS Erskine Childers tale the Riddle of the Sands. The music man for that used some of Das Boot theme in this film.Comment
