I was at the Coventry show today and had my usual smashing time. Met up with young Graham again for some good company and picked up lots of goodies. I also managed to get home with quite a few pennies left from my budget so the missus should be pleased too - and it's ALWAYS worthwhile trying to make sure SWMBO is happy!
I notice you're from just round the corner from Coventry. Did you manage to make it there?
It was a great day at Coventry, good to see you again Dave. I assume the articulated lorry in the car park was your stash of the day lol
I have a load of pics of the some of the models and the Museum exhibits. Highlight of the day, apart from coming away with a great stash of coffee stirring sticks legally acquired (thanks Dave) was getting the chance to sit in a Hind cockpit. Not a lot to many people but to me, to sit in one of the most gorgeous helicopters ever built (OK some call it ugly but I see past the surface to the beauty beneath lol) was just amazing. I just love the beast. More pics of the show to follow but just to show what a kid I am, here is me living one of my dreams. I want a really good model of it now.....
Yeah i was at Tank fest yesterday it was really hot yesterday but a good day saw the Jagpanther running and shame about the tank needing more work. Yeah i did go with a mate of mine and his 2 sons and they let you go into the falcon bomber. WOW what a honour. Model fair was really good lots to buy but short on money lol. but i got plenty of numbers of shop to buy Mr Hobby paint and Verlinden 1:35 figures. Had i great chat with a number of modellers. Oh and I got some mr hobby putty. So Gern what you buy if you don't mind me asking?
Pity we didn't know each other Alex. But then again I was so excited lol. It was a great day. I didn't get into the Vulcan, every time I went it was full of people. Looked a bit dark up that ladder tough....
Lol I never got to sit in the hind . The valcon was very cramped and I asked the important quest, where's the toilet. It in the nose only on long missions tho. Did you look in the bomb bay. Wow 21.000lb of HE or 1 nuke.
It has to be said, the Vulcan is really an impressive aircraft it is only when you get that close that the scale of the thing really kicks in, just amazing.
1/35 Jagdpanther and M 113A-1 by Revell and a 1/35 Challenger 1 by a company called Lee (I've not built any of their stuff before, but for £8 I thought it's gotta be worth a shot).
I also got some 1/35 figures which will definitely go in my GB - but more about that when it starts.
Altogether a really successful day I thought!
I agree with Graham though, it's a pity we didn't know you were going. We could have met up for a chat and a coffee. Maybe next time ay?
You missed the get-together we had at Cosford earlier this year. It fell to me to organise a meeting place at the show so I suggested we met under the nose of the Vulcan. Silly me! I didn't realise it was hanging out over two stories so was 40ft up in the air! We met up OK, but we COULD meet under the nose of the Vulcan at Coventry next year!
All we gotta do is think of somewhere to meet at any other show. My idea to meet Graham at Hinckley - under the high diving board at the swimming pool in the leisure centre - also didn't work out too well. They don't HAVE a high diving board!
P'raps we should give the job of arranging meetings to someone more competent than the idiot who's got it at the moment!
