My word but that brings back some memories. Did anyone else do the Birds, Henry VIII and I seem to remember a flintlock pistol with jewels around the base of the grip. Most of all, I loved the Matchbox kits when they came out, I know they had trenches for panel lines but they seemed so exciting somehow especially the Armour kits with the diorama bases. As a youngster I did have a couple of the Airfix Fokker Friendships but mainly so I could snigger at their name..... Sad really.
Fantastic memories derek, like graham, as a young un i used to do anything i could lay my grubby hands on. I did the airfix bullfinches and blue tits too, along with various dinosaurs from differing manufacturers and i had quite a collection of the old aurora glow in the dark monster scenes, dracula ,forgotten prisoner, wolfman, mummy etc.As well as all this weird and wonderful stuff there was always aircraft, tanks and the odd car or boat. The matchbox armour kits are back on the scene now too graham , reboxed by revell complete with mini dio base ,ive done the wespe(see tanks section) and ive got the m40 GMC and montys caravan in the stash, theyre brilliant fun and astoundingly well detailed.A Kit that i really loved was the revell spitsfire caricature, which has recently resurfaced in "classic" boxing ,i did this one ,the messaschnitzel and the funfdecker fokker and would love to get my hands on them again, they were a great laugh! come on any one else got any skeletons in the closet (actually that reminds me , i did the airfix human skeleton too!!!!) cheers tony
