    Have you changed subjects?

I was sitting here looking at my stash and also remembering what i built as a kid. It occured to me that in the last few years i have changed from doing 99% Battle of Britain kits to Luftwaffe nightfighter subjects. I still love the BoB stuff but i am more fasinated by the German aircraft now. Maybe it's because they were so deadly, i'm not sure. But it is a definate swing away from my 'bread and butter' subjects.

Anyone else found they have progressed onto different subjects more than what they started on?

Hi Allyne I started on a ship then onto the early airfix planes of any sort mainly WW2 types, as an early teenager I progressed to cars and bikes, then a long break interrupted by an occaisonal car, bike then a german half track now as a very old teenager ( decrepid ) I began again by doing cars with more detail and paint, lots of tanks WW1 and 2 then airplanes took over again, which is why I have recently finished an Enzo, nearly finished the Ducati, but I do have the B2 in primer but arguing with the final colour. So I suppose I have gone full circle? Ther is probably some psychological reason for this. I blame sex!!!! Cheers Gareth.:surrender:

Well my comfort zone is normally boats/ships, but got side tracked by some armour. Also have always had a soft sport for WWII RAF especialy Spitfires.

A recent dabble into jets has lead me astray and my stash is growing rather large british classics by the minuet. My Wife is getting worried about space (but only as much as suggesting I should build another cabinet to put them in.

I can honestly say that I have never had a 'subject' I am quite happy to work on anything that I fancy at the time.

Most will know that I'm really a WW2 aircraft builder and predominantly Luftwaffe as well. However I'm prepared to have a go at anything. It's been a long and ongoing debate about just how similar the various genres of (plastic) modelling are. I'm a firm believer that whilst there may be differences in some techniques, particularly finishing/weathering systems, the basic skills are just the same. We all try to stick the damned thing together,be it a motorbike, tank or airplane as best we can and that is the same for everyone. I really enjoy looking at other genres and even entirely different types of models on this forum. I've been amazed, for example, by some card models I've seen. How the hell they do that I've no idea!

          Cheers

I have been making aircraft since I returned to the modelling hobby roughly 2 yrs ago, but recently I have began to yearn for a ship (see my gallery), made a couple in the past. After my Tornado I have two more kits in my stash, so once they are made I might dabble in a ship again.

Good post Allyne. I had only ever done motorbikes before coming on this forum, but have now ventured into a plane and some armour as well as figures. I have also been tempted by cars as ive seen some crackers on here. And i think thats the thing, seeing others doing certain subjects has given me the inspiration to have a go at something different. I now have a real cross section of kits in the stash and am really looking forward to discovering if i like them or not. Regards Martin :-)
