Depends what you mean by 'detail' it. Are you meaning adding parts such as pipelines etc or painting and weathering? Either way, you need good reference pictures that show the area that you want to work on. Pipes like hydraulics can be added using thin wire, copper wire stripped from cable works but I refer lead wire as it is softer and shapes very easily. Depending on the scale, you can add cable clamps by painting tin strips of masking tape the colour you want and wrapping that around the pipe and the undercarriage leg.
Lots of existing detail can be brought out by pin washing, running very thinned down black paint around edges of raised detail and in hollows, this will create a shadow effect that will enhance the detail.
