    Which Dremel - or similar?

Hi all; I'm considering getting a Dremel tool, or similar - what do you recommend? Also, what attachments? Thanks!

Hi, I guess it depends what you want to use it for. I bought a basic one a bit ago when they were on a good offer at B&Q. (I cannot remember the model reference without checking) To be honest, the high speed means you need to be very careful using it on plastics and I haven't used it nearly as much as I expected. I generally use if for cleaning up metal parts now. It's a nice bit of kit but it's not as suitable as I had hoped for what I do.

I've got this Draper one, has loads of bits and no problem getting hold of new bits, I can get hold of everything Draper and if you wanted this one could do it at the ex-vat price for you.

I had a realy cheap B&Q copy for a couple of years but got fed up with it and bought a cordless Dremel. It was a very good price at B&Q and came with a load of accessories, I would apply what we always know, you get what you pay for.

If you get a Dremel with speed control you shouldn't have the challenges that Mike had and I love the flexibility of the cordless model.

I have the full dremel kit, everything that is available including the Dremel gas soldering iron. i also have the dremel pedastall for multi functional uses. I recomend this stuff, it is fantastic. only problem is that it is expensive. Now, i also have the B&Q one, that is very good also but i got shown the Dremel stuff and i was hooked. The B&Q one comes complete with pedastall and the long extension. This is sitting in my workshop and i never use it, infact it has had little use at all. Open to offers and dont mind posting if anyone is interested.

I have a cheapo "own brand" one from a DIY super saver budget shop. It does the job needed, has speed controle and flexi shaft thing. Again it dont get much use at the moment. Very nice to have if you find you have 57 port holes that need opening out, or the odd bit of metal cut polished or ground down. Need to be a bit carefull on plastics though.
