Did anyone watch last weeks programme hosted by Alan Titchmarsh ? the 20th Century Road show showed the Science Museums outstation at the old Wroughton airfield in Wiltshire,hangar D1 was crammed with pieces of our social history from lawn mowers to submarines and rack upon rack of everyday items.
Apparently the idea is to save at least one of each item that we use in everyday life,according to the curator so much has been lost due to complacency,there were rows of fire engines,old farm tractors,buses you name it ? a bewildering collection of artifacts,keep your eyes peeled for their open days held a few times a year,well worth a visit,but check to see if your interests are open to the public,sometimes only the old aircraft are on view and the occasional rally is held there,amazing place for scale modellers so take your camera !
