    Having fun, yeah right!!!

Hi all, first i'd like to apologise for not being on for a while, having problems with the computer so it looks like a reformat I've had a look at what folks have been up to but using a playstation to browse the web that doesn't have a keyboard can be a little awkward to say the lease. This is the first time i've been on properly for a week.

    :badcomputer1:

Second, grandkids & models don't mix. For the last month i've been working on a 1/35 scale Staghound, i just fanced doing something with wheels so i made a start on the all singing all dancing one from Italeri. This morning (Sunday) i did some work on the Capri in the garage, i didn't know anyone had turned up. For about an hour i was cleaning and thought it was time for a cuppa, i popped into the house and Wendy had just put the kettle on. I was sat there happing five when i heard a noise from upstairs, "oh, the grandkids are here". I went up to see what they was doing, i swore (lots). That was in my modeling room, the Staghound was in bits no way can it be repeared, models from my stash was all over the place out of the boxes and glue on the keyboard (music) i have. Yes, at the time i was mad but not for long. I was just glad it wasn't a trip to hospital, they didn't get the super glue or hobby knifes.

Good to have you back John.

Lucky escape with the grandkids though. My 2 year old son found and hide my craft knife. Seriously made me think how i leave my model desk when not there.

Time for a big lock on the door then John, i've got a 1 year old that has just started to take a few steps so everything in the house has to be above 3 ft. Sorry to hear about your collection but glad they didn't hurt their selves. Luckily all my stuff is in the shed and i hide the keys, more to keep the other half out so she can't see how much money i've spent

Alright. Yeah, it's heart-breaking when a model gets trashed but at least nothing serious happened. I have a little daughter who's 3. I call her Megatron, although her real name is Sasha - she just lives up to her nickname. Much earlier this year, I was letting this nice GAZ truck from Zvezda dry. I put it in front of the window which was stupidly within reach of Megatron. Came back after 10 mins and there was my truck in pieces beyond repair. I was mad but really with myself thinking that i shouldn't have left it there asking for trouble. Just as a precaution, everytime i leave my desk, i put the serious tools and things away.

Mind you my wife was so impressed with my patience she let me buy a replacement model. So instead of the 5 quid Zvezda, i bought a 20 quid Tamiya. I might buy a load of Zvezda models, build them quickly and leave them about, react patiently when destroyed and buy "some nicer ones" Ha ha!!!

The models are at least always replaceable. A nephew took a model Tiger Moth, built by my late father, for a test flight with predictable consequences. Dad obviously couldn't make another one,my brother doesn't model anymore, so guess who presented a replacement to a grateful mother!

          Cheers

          Steve

            Hi John

I was cringing reading your story - ouch!

Little, inquisitve fingers and delicate models and super glue do no make for a good mix! At least no one was hurt (modelling knives and thinners etc - there's plenty of stuff to cause injury)

It's a shame about your models and the Staghound build (I've got the Bronco kit in the stash) I would have liked to have seen what you made of the kit.

As for computers - I think we've all suffered from IT hell at some point or other so we know how frustrating and infuriating it can be.

Looking forward to the next build (when the grand kids are in the other room!) whatever it is.

            All the best

            Paul

You're having a bit of a bad run at the minute John. I recall your 'Russia' diorama ending up on the floor too!

If there is one good thing to come out of this latest episode, it's the fact that the winkies didn't get hold of anything harmful....

Thanks all, i'm just about to kill the computer so thought i'd have a look first. My son popped up this morning and brought a card that the kids made with "sorry grandad" on, made my day that. But all is well once more, i'm lucky, the only casualty was the Staghound. Everything else is now in the right boxes, i've found a little bolt lock so i'm fitting that today too.

Right, now it's time to give the computer the Vulcan Death Grip.

                Have fun, John

PS. I've just notice Paul is back, hello matey hope all is well.

Good luck wit the 'puter John, hope to see you on the other side.

We acquired a kitten during my 7 month absence from modelling. I left the Huey out overnight to dry and found it behind the stereo the next morning. It's a learning curve!

Sometimes I let my 6 year old son be around me while I am at the workbench but I rarely can do anything because he talks up a storm and floods me with "fundamental questions" about why Darth Vader became bad when Anakin Skywalker was such a nice guy. That's when the computer comes in handy, I play a Star wars cartoon for him and go back to work. Now my 4 year old, the first time he was allowed in the shed, he managed to break something I had under construction. I guess little tykes are not really compatible with models and computers really have a mind of their own, SWMBO is sometimes easier to tame. Good thing is that the "puter" never complains about buying a new model and even helps you to find it and get it online!
