After reading someone mention the Sweet 1/144 kits in a thread a wee while ago and having not heard of them I thought i'd do a bit of internetting and read a couple of reviews, all seemed favourable and I like a challenge in scale so I bought the Hans Joachim Marseille BF109F, star of Africa kit.
How to begin?
Wow, this kit is truly incredible, I have had , quite honestly, 72nd scale kits which are not as well tooled and detailed, as a matter of fact, i've had (mainly in the past), 1/48 scale not as crisp or as well detailed.
The box has some nice typical box art on one side and some weird Manga / Anime business on the other, leading to an impression of a distorted cartoon model.
The decals are very comprehensive covering several and include swastikas too and additional decals for modelling Marseilles personal Kubelwagen.
The instructions are one A4 side and mainly in Japanese but theres really nothing compicated, the other side has colour paint diagrams.
The Kits, (you get two in the box), are moulded in a nice fairly soft styrene and on a single sprue, split fuselage as with most aircraft, single wing and you even get a pilot seat, it's a sandy brown colour, theres no flash, panel lines are engraved and you get a choice of armoured or non armoured canopy as well.
I haven't even begun to build this kit and I love it already, it's incredible and I shall most definitely, (if I can build a decent 144th scale plane), be getting more.
Maybe an idea for a new GB?
