Mine came from France and cost me £25 plus about £4 P+P. Bad as I wanted one, there is no way I would ever have paid over £40 before P+P, just silly.

I have a feeling that some one is missing the point of this light hearted post about this item.

Click on the link and look at the postage. You might need the change the "post to" if you are looking from a pc in the UK.

Slowly but surely people are starting to pay over the odds for this kit. Why on earth. you watch Tamiya will re-release it in the near future and then what? LoL

Yes Graham, I have seen these kits on the web too, I spoke to one kit dealer at Duxford earlier this year and he said that the release of the later one with the gun was so limited, that only 1 was available to each shop! How true that is I know not, but needless to say he had one of the earlier ones on Ebay and was hoping for a killing on it!

Then what'll be the old kit wil become a 'rare' collectable item which will be bought primarily by people who do nothing beyond sticking it in a massive pile in cupboard with no intention of ever building it just to say they have one and anyone buying building or otherwise a re-release will be sniggered at by said people as the one they have is not an 'original'

I've watched some kits go for utterly stupid money on eBay and on several occassions seen an old casting of a kit go for triple or more than a new casting of the same, regardless of original moulds or new.

I know what you mean m1ks, but as long as there are people wiling to pay the silly money, there will be people selling them. I am as guilty as the next man and have paid over the odds for a kit. The problem is if you want it bad enough you will pay.

If a kits OOP and some one has one they know it will sell. Add to that the fact that the seller dont exactly put them for sale at £50 and wait for a buyer, It's the buyer that wants it the most that pushes the price up. I have at times had dark ideas of sellers having multiple accounts and pushing the prices by bidding on their own sale once they can see that there is an interested buyer or two. We will never know.

I always remember making this kit in the 1970's when I was a younger version of myself. like so many things then, they get broken or lost, as they say hindsight is a wonderful thing. I saw that Graham wanted one of these and pointed him in the right direction a few months ago, but even though it would be nice to have one in the stash I like most of those involved in this discussion I too would not pay the silly prices they go for. The thing is eBay reaches all and that is why they go for a lot of cash, because the nature of the beast is that 'I must have that' another £10 won't go amiss, damn it I have been outbid, another £10 then ............................:grinball2:
