    Modelling New Year Resolutions

Anyone got any for the upcoming year?

I'm going to try and make a serious dent into my stash and also try out resin & PE aftermarket stuff. I have three Bf110 G-4 and eight FW190s crying out for my attention

Great thread Al , my new years resolution is or are - finnish stuff I`ve started without starting something else , only do top or finnish coats in natural light , christmas eve I cocked up a gloss finnish on a Lotus 25 I was making for my old man because of poor light it looked the nuts at the time next morning it looked like my 2 year old had done it (I was gutted) then spent about 2hrs sanding it down today in between family coming round , I should know better but when your modelling and get in that zone well you know lads it happens ! , also

I`m in the middle of moving so when moved have a proper work base to play instead of a poxy camping table , stop smoking , drink more , post more on the forum and keep upto date , well thats my resolutions , not to much to ask ?

    Happy new year guys

I am going to try and make a dent in my stash too, the thing is that this can become compulsive, very quickly indeed, I subscribe to three modelling magazines Scale Aviation Modler International, Military Modler International and Military Modelcraft Inetrnational. The thing is that the Hunter-Gatherer kicks in and there is that compulsion to answer that all telling cry in my head. OoooH thats nice I could do something with that! Then when it arrives the million dollar question from the better half ' What on earth..........' You know the question I am sure that it has been asked of us all?hno:

I have just seen the new 1/35 Opel Biltz that Cyber Hobby are releasing £45 shipped from HK or as one magazine here was quoting £79. So the question that I keep having to ask myself is can I justify one more to the ever growing pile or reduce it somewhat by selling or making furiously. I do not know what others think but I know that I need to reduce my stash dramatically to be able to make room.

So as far as my resolution goes, make room, buy more:grinball2: ....................... and also keep on doing what we all like doing and that is turning small parts in a box/packet into a lovely finished model!

I think mine has to be "build a little faster" lol even Captain Slow from top gear is faster than me lol

          So

          1. Build a little faster.

          2. Not to be so super detail fussy.

          3. Continue to ENJOY THIS GREAT HOBBY.

          4. Try to buy fewer kits as they just end up on the to do pile which never ever seems to go down lol.

That's me lot lot before I get carried away lol

Wishing one and all A HAPPY NEW YEAR

          Regards

          David

As for me the absolute number 1 is to be more patient when building. Not only that but i want to try out a load of new techniques that i've read in magazines or read on here. I've been modelling for a while and it's coming on leaps and bounds but i really would like to try some diorama stuff. The only issue is getting hold of decent stuff over here.

I'm also on the same track as Richy here. Half of my models are unfinished. I seem to suffer from modelling mood swings; one day it's construction the other it's painting. But this one day can last for a month either way

Wishing everyone a happy New Year

            Paul

Hi all, i think for me it's not go at it like a bull in a china shop, do research on the subject i'm going to build. Get all the bits & pieces before i start it, need to practise what i preach too and have fun. Ohh!! and the main resolution is "get the USS Voyager done".

Have fun, John and have a great "New Year"

                Great idea for a thread!

My own is simple, stop kidding myself I'm going to achieve more than I'm capable of (or have time for!!), or to put it simply set realistic expectations! (....and stop getting irritated when I don't achieve them!)

mine is to get a stash first ,save up for a compressor and airbrush and then learn to not put so much paint on my brush in one go.far too impatient

Andrew. Getting a stash is easy. Keeping it to a realistic level is the hard bit

i guess ive already started minee which is to not limit myself to one type of modelling, i used to just like armor, with a couple of aircraft thrown in now ive found myself buying trucks helcopters boats subs cars, i think limiting your self to just one type of modeling is just restricting what you can learn to do as the different ypes of models require a different type of finish and techniques

I need to finish some of what I've started and make time to do more, I'm off work this week and the wife is working, I'm sure my son won't complain if he is left playing his xbox all day while I do some modelling
