    Discovery Channel Military History Rant

Does anyone here watch the Dogfight series that is on the Discovery Channel Military History?

Whilst i do like watching it for the CGI combat videos i am starting to get really hacked off with it being so pro-american. I just wish for once they'd show some of the dogfights from the axis side of things, or maybe some Battle of Britain dogfights. The way it's portrayed at the moment is that america won every encounter with the enemy aircraft and they saved the world (as usual).

Sorry for the mini-rant but it's something that really gets my goat

I can only agree with you there. Unfortunately the money and the industry is in the US and its there most film and TV is made about war. It gets my goat up to.

All the major battles where fought and won by the US, all the wonderful things like the jet engine, radar and sonar where invented by the US. Along with the tank and cars. Well that's what they will have us all believe. WE KNOW OTHERWISE!

Be happy in the thought that in every war the US has been the main opposing force, they have lost. and would probably got their asses whipped in Iraq if they didn't get a little help from the RN, RAF and British army.

Well that's me black balled from the forum.

Is the Dogfight series a US production? Because many books I have read and films I have seen about the war in all aspects tend to be rather bias and nation-specific.

I am an American, and I agree 100%! I cant stand people/books/shows that are/believe that we are the best thing that hit the planet. An episode on the German top aces, or the Red Air-force's women pilots, would be fantastic. Are they still being made? Also, they are shown on the history Chanel, not discovery, at least over here.

Well the programme was made originally for U.S. consumption. I only managed one episode and found the tone irritating and the content lightweight......I suppose you can say I didn't care for it much.

          Cheers
