    Afrika Korps Uniform Colour

    Greetings fellow Modellers!

    Hi guys

Can any of you suggest the best colour paint to do the uniforms on Afrika Korps figures? I am currently in the process of building the Tamiya 1/35 Famo, and the figures on there are numerous to say the least. With a little hashing around and the use of some heads and helmets from the spares box I want to show some of them with different head gear.

That being said all the Tamiya suggest for the uniform is Dark Yellow, but I have a feeling that this will be too light for the uniform. I was always under the impression that it was more of a Khaki Green Colour but before I commit myself I need to ask the question.

So in a nutshell can anyone suggest a colour and where best to source it, especially if it is one of the lesser known brands.

    Cheers

    Andy

I quite like to use the following two

Xtracrylix Afrika Korps Tan Yellow RAL8020 XA1808

    Xtracrylix Afrika Korps Sand/Grey RAL7027 XA1809

Although at the darker end, you can juggle these two into most things Afrika Corps and they don't look too 'yellow' if you know what I mean. Don't forget that all sides in the dessert started to look the same colour after being in the sun for a while so faded linen would apply as highlights as the colour was bleached out of the uniforms.

Both available from the forum shop, HERE

Andy if you are using Tamiya paints then mix tamiya dark yellow XF60 with tamiya red brown XF64 this should give you a nice browny yellow for a visual aid check out the colour on my marderIII with it's crew this should help.
