What was your favourite kit of 2010? Why not show us the finished article?

I enjoyed some more than others as usual. The Hasegawa Fw190D was great but my favourite and best by a country mile was Tamiya's new 1/32 Spitfire MkIX.

    Cheers

My fave kit that i made in 2010 has to be the sublime (some might say bizarre!) sweet models fm2 wildcat with cat deck crew in 1/144. Although its only tiny it puts a huge smile on your face building it ( or is it a squint? with the painting of it!) . tony

It's hard for me to say which model was my favourite as i enjoyed them all but, the one that sticks in my mind is Hobby Boss T-34. It was the one that gave me all the problems with the fit (which i later found out it was my fault) but it still came out looking great. So here she is.

I think mine had to be the Ardennes King Tiger I built and displayed on the forum under this link.

I'd have to pick two models as they're both favourites for different reasons.

                1. The Revell Suzuki RG250 Gamma- It was a pig for handling and fit was a bit off in places, the plastic was brittle compared to most other kits and a couple of bits were broken on the way through the build, it was also slightly inaccurate in places BUT, it's a winner for me as I built it as an Xmas pressie for a friend as it was his first bike and he's delighted with it, I've had numerous text messages since he received it telling me how great he thinks it is and that alone was worth the effort in building.

                http://www.scale-models.co.uk/other-models/10790-suzuki-rg250-gamma.html

2.That would have to be the Academy 72nd Typhoon, it just went together like a dream, everything lined up just right, the detail for the size was fabulous and it was a first for trying some weathering techniques i'd not done yet, sprayed on invasion stripes and salt weathering.

Also it's a bit of a seldom mentioned WWII fighter which I have real soft spot for.

This is an easy one for me as it took 11 months of the year along with 3 months of 2009 to complete.

Mine has to be the FW190 for the original GB. Don't know why but I have struggled to get close to it since, still love it dearly.

My favourite kit would probably be the Eduard FW190 I built for the first GB, like Graham I really enjoyed that kit. But I suppose for a variety of reasons it has to be the Cross of Iron build for me. I learned a lot from the build and the kits (T34 from AFV Club and figures from Masterbox) were real quality.

Seems like only yesterday but here it is again...

Cracking idea for a thread, Steve. Brought back some good memories of 2010.

Don't know about best model, but the thing I had the most fun making was my Iwo Jima Diorama. Two reasons, I had never attempted the Pacific Theatre before and second I received quite a bit of light hearted flak for missing out 'The Bucket'! So I had to shove one in and take a second picture!!

Good stuff and lets hope we all have our favourite model to look back on in New Year 2011/12....

                            Cheers,

                            Ron
