ultrasonic cleaners

Just in case anyone is interested - i read in one of the posts (i did try to look it up) that smoeone had resently purchased an ultrasonic cleaner from maplan at a bargain price of around £25.00, they also mentioned it was goood for cleaning airbrushes- so i thought next time i am in the big city(country boy ) i would invest in such a wonderfiul invention not knowing what it was or how it worked but hay what the **** its a bargain . but whilst on a shopping expedition with the better half we were in lidl's and for the princly sum of £16.00 was an ultrasonic cleaner so i bought one -in fairness i have not used it yet but will give it a blast and let you know the results -

I bought one of the Maplins ones for.....ahem....cleaning SWMBO's jewellery. I've done a couple of my airbrushes in it and am pleased with the results. I can't say that the cleaner removed a lot of "gunk" but it did do a good clean. I like to think I keep my airbrushes as clean as is reasonably possible anyway,but they are positively gleaming now!

ok gave it a wirl - did some jewellery and my watch they look much cleaner than before so stuck the fully assembled air brush in and hay presto it did'nt look any different !so i gave it a second blast

and still no real differance in fairness its cleaned reguarly anyway - took it out to the workshop did some test spraying and no differance there either - it think it will be one of those gadgets that you put on the shelf and never use but you never know 5/10.

Don't put it in assembled take it apart, that way each part will get a good clean, I don't use mine all the time, I guess on average once every 10 uses, but I strip mine down after every use anyway so it's not that unclean.

Exactly what John said^^^^^^^

I found it did shift a little bit of gunk,I'm guessing from hard to reach areas around the trigger and probably the needle guide/'O' ring behind the paint cup. The occasional whizz in the cleaner certainly won't do any harm.
