As far as I can tell from various readings in SAM / SAMI / AMW / FSM / GBH / ABH / VC and the order of lenin etc
They're a variation on incredibly fine graded sanding media, the stick is as the name implies a stick, like a nail buffer and the sponge like a small pad which I think has a thin foam backing?
If anyone knows better please correct me.
Incidentally, nail buffing files, (they are like a nail file but with sanding media both sides and generally have a couple of grey bits and a white and pink bit, work a treat for this and they are pretty cheap from your local chemist, superdrug etc)
I make my own. I attach various grades of wet and dry to lolly sticks or other suitably sized bits of wood with double sided tape. They work for me.I generally use 400,600 and 1000 grades.
Good selection in the shop forum here. I like and use almost exclusively the Promodeller range. They are good quality, last for ages and are reliable. I have tried nail sanding sticks but they are not made for hard materials like the plastics and tend to wear quickly. Having said that, they are sometimes cheaper so it is a trade off I suppose. I have one of the Promodeller ones that has been in use over a year now, dropped a couple of grades with wear but will last a lot longer yet. Think of it as an investment.
I was looking in the forum shop when I started this thread. So they quite good then? I looking something for aircraft wing joins and infantrys arms then quick brush over with no more nails.
LOL I hope that creeping gets you a discount. I will say I used the buy alot from another online shop but I am thinking of defecting. As this shop has quality and value. (Come on give me a discount my creeping was nicer)
