Morning all, as the title suggests I have a few queries that I need help with and of course this is the first place I'd go for answers so here goes,

Following advice from a previous thread I've tried to strip paint from an old hand painted bf-109f using mr. Muscle oven cleaner soaked over night but it didn't even scratch the surface. Any other tips / methods would be gratefully recieved.

Another question on the same kit is does anyone know of a good set of 1/48 bf109f decals for a tropical scheme?

Last but not least I'm thinking of attending this years scale model show at Telford in November and was wondering if anyone could recommend a reasonably priced B&B or hotel in the area.

Hi Chris,

I'm guessing that was enamel paint?

For decals EagleCals do a sheet for the F-2 and one for the F-4 tropical versions. EAG48135 and EAG48130. Hannants stock them.

They may do others if you can sift through the stock using their search engine!

I can't help with the last one as Telford is a day trip for me.

You could try finding this a bit nearer home, Paint Killer, 100 ml if you cant find it I am sure John in the shop can, or Modelskibet could send it....

This paint stripper can remove all the X and XF paints from Tamiya, AS and TS spramaling, PC and PS lexanmaling and other types of paint.

Paint remover does not spoil the material (plastic, styrene resin, metal or other materials).

The manufacturer has conducted tests to remove 10 year old Tamiya Acrylic paint applied plastic models. The paint could be removed without problems.

This paint stripper can be corrected errors on the model, without having to sand it down and paint the whole model again.

Cheers for that chaps will check out the decals and the stripper (now now!)

The paints used were hum broil acrylics with a brush painted coat of hum roll varnish and I think I may have sprayed a matt varnish after that. Bloody stuff won't budge, the Mississippi has suggested nail varnish remover but not convinced it won't melt the plastic, anyone tried it?

Careful with nail varnish remover. They contain acetone and that may damage the plastic. I've had it damage the plastic of a Trumpeter kit when I was using it to thin a putty.

I bet laquer thinners will shift it,but again,be careful. They vary a lot and some will eat into the plastic.

Andy you are an absolute legend! Got me some power spray today and the109 has now been stripped. Little bit of tidying up to do but it did the job nicely.

And thanks to Steve the eagle decals are just what I'm after!
