Hi stu , thats one impressive stash! Theres some older kits but as long as the decals are ok then they are all good ,buildable kits. If you want to start off with something fairly easy and simple , i'd recommend the Tamiya 'Rufe' that youve got. Its a tamiya so it should fit very well and the paint job is nice and easy being all one colour apart from the engine cowl ,plus theres no awkward undercarriage or wheels. cheers tony

Ohhh what a find, my thought would be to go through them and see which one grabs you, then do that one.

Thats what I usually do with my own stash.

Nice stash. I use Google Site Search instead of the search function. I find it a lot easier.

I think the best, and easiest, way for you to find out which are the good kits, is to send the lot to me and I'll let you know as I work through them!

You might like to know that the Bandai Alfa normally sells well on Ebay despite, I think, being a fairly poor model. And no, cynics, I'm not saying that because I'm looking to buy one.

i found my dads 'stash'in the loft when i was a kid, but it was a little bit more..errrmmm...mature.

ps im gradually building my own stash of kits..ive got 6 with 2 on their way this week....when will i find the time???

It'll be great to bring your Dads stuff to life after so many years tucked away....im just saying 50 hail marys for you and hoping tht the decals are ok....read my posts of heart ache and you'll understand!!

There`s certainly plenty to keep me going. Si, some of the decals are yellowed, i guess that means they`ve had their chips!! A remarkable number seem in decent condition, well, to my novices eye anyway. Delmonteman, thats a terrible idea! Lol!

I can only really comment on the aircraft kits. Your dad had a decent stash. There are some kits that have been superceded by newer,improved,versions but I wouldn't describe any of them as "chaff".

I think you'll find any that you don't want would be saleable. Some,like the old Heller kits,are quite hard to find now and their are oldschoolers who enjoy building them.

Yellowed decals are not a lost cause. Leave them in a window and the sunlight (remember that!) will whiten them somewhat. You'll probably be best to give them a coat of Microscale's liquid decal film before using them. They may still disintegrate but it's worth a go.
