    Decal maker

    Hi.

Please could somebody point me in the direction of who can make some custome decals for me? Maybe a forum memeber with the necessary paper could do it?

I'm looking to buy a Corgi Ford Transit and 'convert' it into a tv detector van. I have the aeirels for the roof sorted and all I need now is a couple of decals for the sides of the van.

Yes I know the tv detector van doesn't exist (does anybody believe they do these days?) but it's a fun little bit of fun makin one.

I have not got the skill or patience to make such things hence me asking someone on the forum. I am very happy to pay for the time it takes, the materials and postage.

The van is white if it makes any odds.

Thank you very much in advance.

Tv detector vans did physically exist! though not in the way the public thought, in the midlands it was a white Leyland Sherpa with blue signwriting. My mate Dave used to drive one, (he was from Alfreton, Derbyshire ironically TJ)

He told me he used to drive members of licencing staff around to addresses that didn't show up as having a licence on the database. this is where the urban legend came from i think as the van would pull up outside the house with no licence and people would think it was the van that had detected the signal, the BBC caught on this and then started that advertising campaign. the last i heard of it from him was the BBC stopped the campaign due to something about privacy acts and touching the realms of espionage.

Welcome to the forum TJ by the way.

There's a few other areas of the forum you could post this question (maybe getting better viewing) such as the "bits bin", "chit chat" and the "civilian vehicle" forum .... good luck.

Yes they did exist & they were not at least originally secret.

They used to visit Jersey every year. Advertised the visit. Islanders kept track of the vehicles direction. People could be seen driving their televisions to the opposite end of the island.

From memory (never know with mine) they were the long wheel based Landrovers & they had a large group of aerials on top so there was no mistaking them. The easiest way to advertise & get more licences in.

Thanks for the welcome. You are correct about the vans by the way

I really could do with somebody making these for me if someone can??????????

As above, quite happy to pay. I didn't want to litter the forum with the request so thought I'd put it here.
